I love these thoughts! I agree with a lot of it, and you made me consider things that haven't occurred to me before.

What a wonderful read! After going through it, I just realized how easily I (or anybody else, really) can overlook the character transformations throughout this season. I don't know, maybe because it was so B-movie based it just seemed less to-be-taken-seriously (imo) than, say, seasons 1-5. But after reading this and looking back at season 7, goodness did these characters develop (probably the most in one season than any season, I think).

And yeah, Castiel's characterization was a bit heartbreaking. I don't think I've been so interested in a fictional character's psyche than I have with his (poor him, the writers are wonderfully sadistic). I'm wondering where his character will go now, in future canon. Though I would like to see him back, I wouldn't mind if this was his finish (would be a breathtaking finish, imo).

Did we ever get word on what resurrected him again? I'm guessing God again? Crazy bitch.

Yes! I was waiting for your meta on this episode. I loved the symbolism of Dean and Cas playing Sorry. What Dean says - no, you're playing Sorry - pissed that Cas is putting up a front (ie playing a game) and not grasping the seriousness of the situation, because Dean's lost Bobby, he lost (and partially gain back) Cas, and he just wants Cas to be FIXED so they can deal with the Leviathans. But I really don't think Cas is being obtuse; I think he's being the weird elusive (fallen) angel with the weird elusive answers.

And YES, Dean always being sent back to start! So so perfect. Bless you, Ben Edlund.

That's a really good question, because I don't think it's clear which it is for Cas, divine grace or madness. The episode itself seemed to have been written in metaphor sometimes, or from a point of view that verged on madness - it left me disoriented and confused at times, right along with Dean. But it felt intentional, and left me eager for some resolution and clarification, which I'm guessing is a good place to leave a viewer.

Thank you. As much as I didn't enjoy watching the episode as much as I have enjoyed some, I can appreciate that there was character development adn you've helped me see where they are at now.

Castiel felt more "angel" like in that episode that many of the earlier ones. He felt like something other than human and I really liked that take on him. He should be different and it makes sense to me that this is him returning to a more "pure" state than him being crazy. He didn't cross me as crazy at all actually (even though he was often referred to as such).

Sam and Dean's journeys are very interesting also.

I CAN'T WAIT to see where they go next.

Thanks again. Always love your thinky! <33

I think part of what i lvoed about the episode is how they managed to drive the plot along, while still giving us such rich character moments. And I mean the chacrter stuff isn't easy - I'm unsettled by new!Cas, and I feel for Dean and his guilt and anger, And Sam and what I think is almost survivors guilt. Plus Kevin was awesome!
