A thought on Dean in the final scene -

So in my episode reaction I noted the way each victim seemed to be a mirror for the person that killed them. And remember this season's motif is all about shattered reflections...

Anyway at the beginning the trucker mentions Jesus, and Eve says "he was just a man". And at the end we have Dean, absolving everyone of their past transgressions, giving them a clean slate. Whilst in a Jewish cemetery.

Neat, huh?

btw, I dont think this is foreshadowing for any future role for Dean, just a nice bit of symmetry in the episode. Plus I may be slightly invested as it also plays into my thesis about SPN having a secular Jewish POV on the world.

ETA: just to save you clicking back to my ep post, this is what I wrote about the other character mirroring:

Dean kills Gwen - she was the loyal soldier, following the patriarch trying to please him, not questioning too much - dean as he used to be with John?

Sam kills Samuel - his namesake, and a man who did dark things, although he had a soul when he did them. Of course this is particularly shocking - Sam isn't "possessed" and while he obviously thinks Samuel might be, the fact that he shoots him without hesitation gave me chills.

And of course Bobby kills Rufus, the man who made him a hunter, his mentor and friend, they were mirrors of each other, but also something of the role Bobby has with Sam and Dean
