Remembrance of Sci-Fi series past.

liz_marcs posted about the horrors of Galactica: 1980 recently, which recalled to me the even greater horrors of Space: 1999.

Tonight I noticed some cable station was rerunning The Time Tunnel, which I haven't seen since first run, when I was in grade school. I remember watching and being disappointed when it was canceled, something I can't say about ( Read more... )

All I remember about The Time Tunnel are "brash young scientist Tony Newman!" and that the aliens were all covered in tinfoil...

It was Moondoggie!

I'm not sure I ever saw any of the episodes with the aliens. Maybe I repressed them. I liked the historical stories best.

I remember the Time Tunnel.

I suppose that dates me horribly.

I loved that show! Been years since I've seen it. Nooo! I can't put anymore tv series on our shelves! That would just be wrong. :)

Awww! It's so funny to look at it now and find it's held up better than I expected. Not that my expectations were huge:)

I completely forgot that there were bits with the staff back at the other side of the tunnel. All that stuck in my mind were the scenes with Doug and Tony falling through time.

Whit Bissell always used to be back at headquarters looking exceptionally, well, worried, I guess. Every week he seems so sure that Doug and Tony weren't going to make it back.

Oh dear ... I have so enjoyed your fanfic writing but have probably never commented because I'm slack like that, but a mention of Time Tunnel spurs me ever forward. In moments of reflection I wonder about my SF/F obsession, and then I remember my most favourite shows - Time Tunnel, Dr Who, Star Trek (TOS, as if I needed to type it), Doctor Who (watched from 1965 or thereabouts, I had older brothers!!), Land of the Giants.

One of the many things I loved about ST:DS9 was the casting of James Darren as Vic Fontaine: much as I love the casting of various characters in Heroes - someone out there understands ...

P.S. A belated thank you for your fanfic - my Spuffy heart is all aflutter!

Thanks for the feedback, and no worries. I loved Vic Fontaine and the Heroes casting too. And I can't wait to see Marsters on Torchwood. (Don't know if you're following that.)

I've watched Doctor Who for decades too. I started in the Tom Baker era, and eventually saw all the back episodes (except the lost ones, of course) that aired regularly on our public TV channels.
