One of my biggest fears in a relationship was being too needy or dependent on my SO.

I know that I'm me even when Chris is away. But when he came home this Saturday, I felt like the whole me.

It's not just that my boyfriend is home and I no longer feel lonely, though that is a big old plus. My companion is home. I can't think of a better word.

There's a difference between losing your identity in a relationship and finding that person who complements you to the point of being your other half. I think it's safe to say that the latter is the applicable situation here. :)
