* Qu'est-ce qui s'est passé, Habs? It's getting to the point where Washington is starting to look like the Eastern Conference version of San Jose -- a fabulous regular-season team, but... let's be kind and say prone to underperforming in the post-season. *cough, choke* Yes, Les Boys blocked an outrageous number of shots and, yes, the Caps' ( Read more... )

Yeah. Also, as the WSJ points out -- nobody really hates the Mets. Hell, even the Philly Phanatic stopped mocking them out of pity.

(Although, considering the standings, I can expect that to resume tomorrow night.)

... because half of the peace officers in Quebec were on the streets making sure nothing like 2008 happened again. :)

I will admit that while I am vastly amused at the Caps choking, I've never quite been able to root for the Habs. Despite my eternal affection for Red Fisher. I have greatly enjoyed my time in Montreal and I think The Game is the one book everyone who calls themselves a hockey fan should read, but...

But, yes, Les Boys are going to make it last. ;)

A study in flag officers formal wear.

The French formal wear is calle a "Spencer". Don't know why. It's for all the officers from cadet to general and for all the branches. Nobody can be jealous, plus it's more cost effective to have everybody dressed the same. Why is it so chic? Designed by Christian Dior. The big problem: the one designed for women. It's really not as nice. Then you bettter be in the US army.

But the american fatigues and field clothes are much better than the french ones. We especially have a piece of equipment called "ceinturon" which dates back at least 50 years and is not at all practical.
It earned us the nickname "ass top" from our british and US collegues.

I believe M. Dior has to answer for the ruffled blouses US military women have to suffer with for dinner dress. But on the whole, our men and women make out okay, certainly with regard to everyday wear (we shall leave mistakes such as blue tiger stripes aside).

I can understanding being ticked off with Cleveland, if only for those horrifying sequels to Major League. But more hated than the evil occupants of the Bronx? And you're right--how on earth did the Mets make it on the list?

It's a cracked survey all around.

I think we can blame Dallas for Houston being that high on the list (no one is allowed to like both the Rangers and the Stros, it has to be one or the other down here).

That and Houston's piss poor performance in the WS. This is why I do college ball and not pro (though my poor Ags are suffering this year).

The same thing goes for NY -- you can like the Mets or you can like the Yankees, but you cannot like both and you cannot change your original selection ever. Liking the other team from your parents is an accepted form of teenage rebellion. :)
