Yuletide! (Nominations rumoured to happen in early October)

Oct 04, 2011 21:34

So, who's doing Yuletide this year? Those of you who are regulars, are you game this year as well? Those who you who've considered it before, are you going to take the plunge? Which fandoms are you planning on requesting?

As for myself, I'd actually decided to swear off fests for a while, but Yuletide is just irresistible -- it's pretty much been ( Read more... )

I love reading Yuletide fics, the feel of excitement around the reveals and the wealth of unusual fanfics. I won't participate though, because my Muse goes instantly comatose when I commit to a deadline. So I guess I'll keep on lurking still.

(Is Dreamwidth better than LJ? I have an account, but can't really see the difference.)

I'm sad to hear it, though I fully understand about the deadline!

As for Dreamwidth being better -- well, I think that depends. They mostly function the same way, as you say; the most important difference I can think of is that DW distinguishes between "reads" and "gives access to", while LJ groups everyone together as "friends".

DW also has more of an idealistic profile, which many people (myself included) find appealing. But I still haven't really got used to it, I must admit.

I'm hurriedly writing a New Year's Resolution fic to make up for defaulting (before the deadline) last time, just to ensure that I'm allowed to play this year.

Good luck! *sends you inspirational vibes*

I've been meaning to write an NYR story myself, but RL and other projects keep getting in the way.

I'm doing Yuletide for sure *g*

I'm not sure exactly what I'll nominate - I need to know what others are planning... *ponders*

I know I'm extremely likely to nominate Tintin.

I'm SHOCKED to hear that.

Or, well, not. *g* I'm likely to nominate Tintin as well, though it seems to me several nominations might be a bit superfluous -- if the nominations period runs over several days, whoever nominates it first could perhaps let the others know?

Yay! \o/

As I said to kindkit, if the nominations happen over several days, it should be possible to find out during the process whether one of us has to step up...

I'd love to participate, but I'm not sure whether my muse will cooperate -- I've not had any luck writing since I got thrown out of The Jade Dragon by the events in July. Sigh.

*hugs* Totally understandable, even though it must be frustrating. (At least there's always Yuletide Madness?)

Yuletide! :D I'll totally be doing it this year.

I haven't nailed down all my nominations/requests yet, but I'll probably request Arsène Lupin again, and I'm also considering Henri Murger's Scènes de la vie de Bohème.

Yay! :-D I really need to check out Arsène Lupin one of these days... Love your icon, btw.

(Also, I haven't forgotten about the Crime and Punishment ficlet I owe you -- the idea just expanded beyond a drabble, which meant it became exponentially harder to write. *headdesk* I hope to finish it soon, though.)
