Then on Sunday, I binded off the neckline and sewed on all the hooks and eyes. Almost all of what I did this weekend was by hand, totaling about 6 hours. Sewing on them hooks and ( Read more... )

Zomygoodness! I love it! I cannot wait to start on mine, however, I've got to finish Steph's bunad this week. But I LOVE it - looks so period and awesome!

YES!!! Finish Steph's bunad right away! So you can get going on your dress, then we can take pics and that'll be great if we can do them before Nov 31, when its due! It'll be very fun!

Oh! btw, I remembered when I got home last week what it was that I forgot to bring to you! That little bit of wool fabric! I saw it sitting on the floor of my sewing room and I thought "Oh, how silly of me! I forgot that fabric!"

I put together the skirt, put the skirt on, put on the placket and put on the hem facing. Left to do - hook and eyes, finish waist seam with something (zigzag or something . . . ) finish placket waistband and edges, put on hooks and eyes, hem it, and take in the shoulder a bit. I have to be done on Saturday, so it'll definitely be done by then.

Haha! You forgot your pink bow for the collar of your dress, by the way - it's up at my computer desk at the moment.

I made a purty toilet pincushion this afternoon out of red velvet, stuffed with wool (I found one of our old batts, whohoo!) and I'm putting together a larger selection of hair things, with boxes for them to go into, or bags. Oh! You know your orange pomade? I got white stuff at the Bremerton Walmart on Monday. Smells just as good, same brand, same everything, but it's white! Now, for a container to put it in . . .

lol, oh yah! I much prefore 1850's clothes over 1890's clothes, thats for sure! I like my nice and full starchy petticoats! Through its way easier to go to the bathroom in 1890's clothes!
