My practicum visit didn't go that well.

To be fair, I wasn't that good. But I don't think I'll be teaching now.

Still, I'm not that upset about it - from the start, I had wondered whether I could handle the job. So had all my lecturers. No offense to anyone who's a teacher, but I just don't think teaching teaching is for me. As in standing up in front of a class and trying to get kids ( Read more... )

Hmm, maybe that's an idea. But I'm not too good with double responsibilities. :D

Thanks. Right now I'm not sure what's going to happen. I hope it's not the calm before the storm...:D

I'm pretty sure I'll have to withdraw from the programme now, but to be honest, I'm not unhappy about it. I'm thinking that teaching is a bit too much work for me, personally - I make a far, far better student. :D

By the way, this has absolutely nothing to do with the "political divide" between me and the educational Establishment. It has everything to do with my bad communication and class management.

I'm glad you're not unhappy. It's always an adventure, finding out what work suits you.

Yeah, and if it weren't for the lost year, and all that money added to my student loan...I wouldn't regret it at all. I've learned a lot of interesting things, and met lots of wonderful people, both teachers and kids.

Finding work... rumblethunder September 27 2009, 05:45:13 UTC
...rarely goes along a straight path. My career was as much the result of chance meetings and lucky breaks as it was about focusing on a particular objective. So try not to get too bummed about it. Opportunities present themselves in unlikely ways and situations. I know I sound like Mr. Happy Sunshine here, but it's true.

Thanks for the encouragement Russ. :) Sometimes Mr. Happy Sunshine really is realistic, as I'm always fond of saying!
