Day 3 - Your favourite book

Day 4 - Book you hate
Like favourite books, I have more than one I dislike.

Henry's Leg by Ann Pilling

I read this book in school. I was about 13 and I found it so utterly boring that I wanted to pull my hair out. I've never forgot the irritation of being forced to withstand something I wasn't enjoying. Probably because around the same period of time the librarian and I had a discussion where she told me to not waste my time on books I wasn't enjoying because there were too many good ones out there. Wish I hadn't read the whole thing, quite frankly. It was about a plastic leg for crying out loud...what's the big deal?! Seriously? Has anyone actually enjoyed the book? I'd be interested to know the appeal, really.

Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte

Wuthering Heights is another book I had to read. It was for AS level English Literature (AS level being for 17 year olds though I was 18 at the time as I took it a year later with my other A level subjects) and I didn't mind the story, generally. I just didn't like the language. If a book is that much effort to read I don't even want to bother. I guess you could say I much prefer modern literature because I prefer modern language to the thys and thees of that time period. I'm really not the biggest fan.

How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff

Have you ever read a book which left you so utterly confused? How I Live Now doesn't have any dialogue, or more, it doesn't have any speech marks and half of the sentences are full of capital letters. It broke every rule I could possibly think of. Not to mention the story, that was weird. A group of kids living on a farm on their own during a war, then cousins getting together? Erm, no thanks.
