It had become habit for him to stay over at her place, a feat that her brothers would probably find an easy target for their rage of his mild existence. It was different, and while the whole idea of their budding relationship was still taking some getting used to, it had become comfortable ( ... )

Temari idly wondered if she would've stayed in bed longer if it was winter, but seeing that she had the air conditioner on since last night, it already felt like winter and all she wanted to do with crawl into bed again. Shikamaru always made it look so easy to waste time sleeping, even if she could feel him moving underneath the covers, signaling that he was aware of her being there. This new knowledge made her lips stretch wider as she leaned down, pressing her smile into his cheek.

"Don't you have work today?" she delicately asked, truly fighting against the urge to just lie next to him like this for a couple of more minutes until the both of them felt like meeting the ugly world face to face.

He wasn't a morning person, nor was he a night owl. If sleep could be classified as a job, he'd do it as often as possible. There were twenty four hours in a day, and Shikmaru could easily spend nineteen of them passed out in a puddle of drool. He grunted again lightly, the sound coming out like a slight whine as he realized he wasn't going to get anymore sleep now. He was already awake, even if mildly.

"Night shift," he said in a lazy voice wanting her warmth to rejoin him in it's rightful place. He shuffled underneath the sheets, unwrapping himself from their tangle and scooted closer to where she sat on the edge of the bed, fingers grazing the skin of her outer thigh.

His fingers and the warmth of his body radiating from the covers were, once again, tempting her to just forget about work and the warm coffee that she could already smell from the coffee maker in the kitchen. The automatic timing on the little machine was quite handy for waking her up, but not when she had Shikamaru in such a content state that even Temari couldn't ruin.

She finally gave in, but not before promising herself that in five more minutes, she would definitely get up this time. His laziness was just too damn infectious to do anything about it.

Temari swung her legs onto the bed and laid down on the space between the edge of the bed and Shikamaru, her body trying as best as it can to steal some of the warmth through the covers. Her face took on something between thoughtful and strangely peaceful as she watched his face, switching between being conscious and not.

"Night shift? What am I going to do around here without you to keep me company?"

Temari allowed herself to enjoy the kiss and not be bothered constantly with the green digital numbers on the microwave, counting down the minutes she had left to spend with him before duty called. Today, she wasn't even broadcasting, only training a new for hire and showing them the ropes. Afterwards, it was the daily job of helping out the Chairman. She made a mental note to talk to ask him about his purpose with Gaara.

But even with everything running through her mind, they were quickly disappearing one by one as she concentrated fully on the warmth of the kiss as well as the warmth given off by his arms as she lightly brushed her hands up and down their length.

"I have to go soon," she informed him in between breaths, hoping that Shikamaru would stop sometime soon and stop being a temptation to call out. Even if that sort of temptation wasn't a bad type anyways.

Then she said it. Those dreadful words and he pulled away ever so slightly those dark orbs boring into hers. "You don't sound so sure," he said in the attempt to do a reverse psychological move. With Temari, the chances of it working were nil, but he didn't really feel like spending the day alone.

Granted he did that amazingly well all the time, and quite enjoyed the free time, but today was different. Maybe it was the way she made his heart beat so fast and the step forward they'd both made. Her one question, the advance in the relationship---he'd be in hell the day she decided to end it (because he wouldn't be the one to), but right now he couldn't get enough of her.

Sleepy Shikamaru also meant wanting to get close to the warmest thing possible, and he'd grown rather fond of having a girlfriend to wake up to every morning. He didn't whine, but those eyes were a clear enough indication in all their pitifulness that he wanted her to stay.

His lips barely grazed hers, their warmth grazing delicately across her lower lip.

The move in itself was enough to make her come up short in breath, trying to get a solid hold on his lips before he moved back. Instead, her tongue poked out of her mouth to lick at the warm trail left by his lips. His statement did make her think twice and made her slow in responding, her mind trying to catch up with her thinking.

"I'm...sure," she finally decided, a slight frown on her face as she thought about that answer herself. As much as she needed to go to work, things were so much better here and with the new knowledge that the both of them would be closer from now on, well, then she wouldn't really have to view each moment they had as the last one they would have for a while since they met again.
