Kagome had rushed after her shift at the cafe to pick up a few things before heading to where Miroku had told her Yachiru lived. They ordinarily would have taken the trip together, but he had a late seminar that afternoon and she needed to write a paper that night, so she couldn't wait up for him. Besides, she just wanted to drop something off to Yachiru; it wouldn't be fair to monopolize her time when she had closer friends that would probably be visiting.

Careful not to tip over the box containing the mannequin head and the wig that she had brought for Yachiru, Kagome shifted the bag containing the box of pastries she had brought from work. She knew that Yachiru couldn't really eat anything, but she thought it was only right that she also bring something along for the other people who lived in the apartment and who had worried over her while she had been gone.

With her hand freed, she rang the doorbell of the apartment, hoping she wouldn't drop anything or make a fool out of herself.

Kenpachi got up from his spot and went to the door, peering through the peephole. Upon seeing a girl with a box and a wig, he opened the door. While he hadn't met her before, the wig named her for him. "Kagome? Thank ya fer comin' an' come on in. Do ya need a hand wi' all tha'?"

He led her into the apartment, closing the door behind her. "She's awake, an' in here."

Stepping into the room, he smiled at Yachiru. "Got a friend here, Kagome?" While the girl behind him seemed not likely to have anything to do with any sort of evil plots, Kenpachi was still ready for any sign from Yachiru that said she didn't know who the other girl was.

Ah yes, time for another travesty of a shake. Yachiru very quickly found over a dozen things to loathe about having her jaw wired shut. On a logical level she could understand why someone would break her jaw and her arm, it was explained that it would make it harder for her to say or write anything. However, it was putting a massive crimp in her social as well as her work life. She had forgotten to ask if she was getting paid for her time away.

When Kenpachi mentioned that Kagome was there Yachiru blinked as she wondered what Kagome might want. Taking a moment to try and straighten up her hair, she adjusted her seating on the bed and nodded that she was ready.

She noticed the box in Kagome's hand and wondered what it was. She debated trying to say something but knew if she didn't wait she could aggravate her jaw and instead settled for waving. She didn't want to show she had been expecting someone else.

"Hi! Yeah, I'm Kagome. You must be Kenpachi. Um, here," Kagome told him, handing him the bag. "I work at Hamato's Cafe, and while I know Yachiru can't eat much, I thought maybe you and Shizuru would like some cookies or something." She almost said something about how Yachiru hadn't been the only one who suffered, but she didn't think it'd be wise to stick her foot in her mouth so early on.

Holding the box in both hands now, Kagome followed Kenpachi to Yachiru's room, peeking inside before taking a step in. "Hi, Yachiru!" She had to stop herself from asking how she was, or from marveling over how different she looked with her dark hair. After all, Yachiru couldn't really respond, could she?

Moving over towards the bed, Kagome continued to speak as she set the box down and began to open it. "Remember when I said I was working on Cabaret? Well, I was taking stock of the wigs in the costume studio, and I found something that I thought I'd bring over. You don't have to wear it if you don't want, but... I just thought it might help you ( ... )

Haku took the stairs, because stairs in itself were excersize and with how long he had been in the apartment - he needed it. He paced himself all the way up to the 11th floor which kept him calm and focused - giving himself time to let the frustrations fall behind him and wither.

Haku knocked on the door, softly - in case Yachiru was asleep. He couldn't have felt more humble in that moment, knowing that she was okay. Just saddened by his lack of compassion, when he should have continued to the hospital as he had promised Yachiru.

He wouldn't do it again. Gripping the bag in his hand, along with some flowers in hand - he waited.

The knock was soft enough that Kenpachi almost didn't hear it. He opened the door for Haku, wondering if Yachiru would be upset about him coming, after her post earlier, but that wasn't up to him to decide. "Come in. She's awake an' armed."

He led the way to Yachiru's room, gesturing towards the open door. "Yachiru, Haku's here." With that, he stepped away from the room. He knew Haku, and while the kid had let Yachiru down yesterday, there was no denying the fact that he'd gotten her location first, and thus they'd gotten to her first. Haku was on the list of those Kenpachi would let see Yachiru without him present, unless she wanted him there.

Attempting to enjoy the concoction Kenpachi mixed her, which tasted vaguely of chocolate mint, Yachiru was amusing herself by typing up a list of what her first big meal would be when her jaw was better. She had started simple, but the list quickly devolved into all the people she'd be biting once she could. There were only two names on it, Ryuuken and Haku, but the sentiment was similar.

Perking up when Kenpachi knocked, she got a slightly confused look on her face when he mentioned Haku was there. Her first reaction was to carefully put down her glorified protein shake and pull the covers over her head. She had her tablet and could hand it out to whoever. Gesturing with her good arm she gave Kenchan the go ahead to let him in.

She realized in the back of her head that hiding under covers was pretty silly, but she looked wretched and Haku was kind of sensitive. She wondered if he'd scream like a girl when he saw how banged up she was and giggled as well as she could considering.

Being welcomed in was calming, yet being told by Kenpachi she was armed meant that she was still mad at him. Eyelets flickering, as he turned and shut the door, while he followed Kenpachi ( ... )

Orihime took a deep breath and reached out to knock on the apartment door. She didn't really know Yachiru, but Kurosaki-kun really liked her, and she seemed nice. And Orihime loved being able to make people happy with her food! Most of the time, no one wanted to eat her cooking, even though Orihime always loved it.

In a plastic bag, she was holding was a carton of chocolate-peanut butter ice cream, two big bags of brightly colored confetti candy (one for milkshakes and one to save for when Yachiru could eat it normally again~), and a carton of pina colada ice cream. She hoped the other girl would like what she made. Orihime was happy to be meeting another person. First Kagome, and now Yachiru! She still missed Tatsuki-chan, but it would be good to spend time with other girls again.

Kenpachi opened the door to see a head of vibrant red hair. Very, very vibrant red. "Ah. I see tha ice cream. Yer tha girl 'Chiru was talkin' ta 'bout fun shakes?" He stepped back, letting her in. It was nice that so many people cared.

"Tha kitchen's here," he said. It was rather unnecessary, the kitchen was rather obvious. He pulled the blender lid and glass out of the dishrack where he'd set it after cleaning it just a bit ago, putting them onto the base. "Pretty straightforward. Push tha button tha' says tha speed ya want, let it stop before ya take the lid off, pour inta a cup. Ah, righ'." He opened the cabinet with their cups and pulled one down for her. Kenpachi shot a puzzled look at the items in her arms. "Yer gonna make a milkshake wi' no milk? Though I guess it mighta been hard ta get all o' tha' up here an' milk too. We got some in tha fridge, if ya need it."

He leaned back against the counter to stay out of the way while she worked.

"Mmmhmm! I'm Orihime Inoue! Nice to meet you! I haven't met Yachiru before, but I'm friends with Kurosaki Ichigo and he's talked about her. She mentioned wanting confetti candy shakes, so I said I would make her one if she wanted!" Stepping into the apartment and sliding out of her shoes, to leave them beside the door, she followed him into the kitchen. Orihime set down her food on the counter, nodding as the man described how to work the blender. She looked a little sheepish at his question about the milk ( ... )

If he hadn't been used to Yachiru, Kenpachi might have been taken aback by the verbal onslaught of introduction. Instead, he just smiled. "Nice ta meet ya. I'm Kenpachi Zaraki." He wondered if she was taking her shoes off because he was barefoot, but didn't ask.

"Ninjas? Milk ninjas? In tha store here? Heh. Fancy tha'. Ain't ever heard o' milk ninjas before." Kenpachi was grinning now. Out of all of the guests to the apartment so far, Kenpachi had a feeling Orihime could cheer up Yachiru the most. "Do they attack often? 'r is there a way ta prevent 'em from strikin' yer neighborhood?"

He leaned forward as she muttered something that he didn't quite catch. "Wha' was tha'?"

Let's Pretend Zack didn't come extremely late? zackthesex April 4 2008, 04:24:28 UTC
Zack only had a few minutes before he had to go back to the office. There were reports to write up, in all seriousness with Tseng's happy helpful report formats, not to mention the mess that he had somehow been relegated to cleaning. Rufus would also probably get on his case about leaving work during a 10 minute coffee break, but he'd surely understand the situation. Probably.

So sure, he stopped by before with bright happy things the night before, but some things were vaguely fuzzy so he wanted to check up on her again. Just to make sure. Plus, he had gotten more gift ideas from things he'd seen on the net. Not to mention, it was another chance to skive off work.

So adjusting his peace offerings, he rang the doorbell, quite visibly restraining himself from ringing it repeatedly in tune with some annoying jingle. Yeah, it'd be good not to get his ass kicked by the guardian papa.

Hee. Sure. roving_warrior April 4 2008, 04:36:27 UTC
Kenpachi approached the door and eyed Zack. "Yer back." Zack's visit to the hospital had been brief though uneventful, and the guy had seemed cheerful enough, though rushed.

"Did ya remember ta leave behind yer weapons?" While Kenpachi preferred fair fights, loved fair fights, he didn't want there to be any risk to Yachiru. Amazing how Rufus acted like nothing had happened, like nothing had been said. He was even more peeved at Rufus now, since the guy was acting so casual about treating Yachiru like a company possession. "Gonna frisk ya anyways, just so ya know. Yer nice enough, but I ain't feelin' trustin' of anyone 'r anythin' ShinRa a' tha moment."

"Then, provided ya pass, ya can see Yachiru again." He waited for the other guy's acceptance before going to frisk him, there was no need to get in the other's face completely.

He was used to having a gun on him, primarily his nifty Glock handgun that he had gotten first thing when he got into Soldier. But Yachiru's guardian was kinda hard to ignore, even in a slight drunken haze. So his words were like law, especially in all matters concerning her. So the gun had stayed behind, locked in his desk drawer. 'Cause otherwise his subordinate idiots would probably pull some idiotic shit. Not like he wouldn't have.

So slightly smiling, he placed the gifts on the floor before slowly raising his hands. "Sure, no problem."

A quick but cautious frisk confirmed that the ShinRa employee wasn't stupid. That was a good sign; Kenpachi really hoped someone who would take the time to visit twice wasn't an idiot. "Thanks. Come on in, then."

Kenpachi closed the door behind Zack and lead the other man into Yachiru's room, knocking lightly on the open door. "Yachiru, Zack's here again." He stepped in, taking a calm but defensive position leaning against Yachiru's dresser, leaving the chair open should the visitor want to take it. He wanted to be more trusting, but circumstances really weren't letting him, not right now.
