Kurenai had been conflicted. She had seen Anko's invitation to the members of the SFPD to go drinking tonight and wanted to go, but didn't consider herself one of them. Besides, she had it on good authority that nobody liked drinking with the shrink, so she wasn't going to go. Then Kankuro invited her, and she felt she owed it to him to keep him out of trouble.

Kurenai hadn't been having the best of months, but she wasn't going to let that bother her tonight. She fully intended to leave the 'shrink hat' and the drama at home, so she could prove to Kankuro she knew how to loosen up. His comments about her clothing and attitude had gotten to her, much as she hated to admit it.

Putting on the blue dress she had bought back when she had found out Havoc liked the color. This was her first time wearing it, and she kind of hoped it would show Kankuro she knew how to dress ( ... )

Toying with the label on her beer, Anko glanced up at the voice before tossing a welcoming grin in Kurenai's direction.

"Hey you, not at all! Wasn't sure to bother you or not with everything, but glad you came out anyway." Pausing long enough to make a gesture to the bartender and waiting for Kurenai to get herself something, Anko nodded appreciatively at her friend's dress. "Cute 'lil number on you. And that'll be good. If things work out just right I won't be coherent enough to superglue his ass to the bar stool once he gets too mouthy. Just want everyone to have a good time and show these fuckers that I'm no lightweight."

Nodding to catch the bartender's attention, Kurenai figured she would start things off right tonight.

"You have no idea how much of a relief that is, I was totally prepared to head home if you said this was a bad idea." Checking over the selection of vodka she asked for a glass of the Grey Goose on the rocks before turning back to Anko. "You think? Funny story, I got this after finding out Havoc likes the color blue. I wanted to be cute, so I picked up a few dresses." She paused, taking a sip of her drink as she blinked. "If these fuckers think you're a lightweight then they'll probably think I'm a lush, but who cares? Kanpai!" Kurenai called out, holding her drink up to toast with Anko.

It was safe to say that Kankuro had already had at least one beer before he'd even walked into the bar. With a giant grin on his face he plowed into the crowd looking for those few familiar faces. While he liked bouncing around in his uniform, the urge to wear it tonight had died down after running around making up his mind on plane tickets for Florida the next day. Dressed casually, and clean cut, Kankuro greeted Kurenai and Anko in his usual behavior. Leaning up against the bar he looked Kurenai over. "So Doctor decided to come out and play?" he said mischievously.

Part of Light was still wondering why he had been invited to this thing in the first place. (True, it had been a flippant gesture, a quick matter of, "Hey, brat. You're old enough to drink, right?", but he had been invited all the same.) A bigger part of Light wondered why he had agreed to come at all, but he supposed spending a night out on the town was far better than sitting at home alone ( ... )

Rolling her eyes at the way Kankuro so obviously was checking her out Kurenai took another sip of her drink before responding. "Yes Sabaku, I even dressed cute just for you." She smirked, glancing at Anko as if to say this was just like old times, back when they would go to parties and completely take over the scene. "And to think, he didn't even dress up for me. Pity, that ( ... )

A low growl came from the agent as she snapped her attention to the other side of her, but whatever she was originally was going snipe out was lost at the sight of Jean's sad condition.

"Well aren't you looking shitty tonight?" Lost, but all too easily replaced with Anko's typical candor. "Like I'd trust that man anywhere near my damned drink. Little bit of credit here, if it's not too much to ask." She did take a little bit of pity on the bastard and waved the bartender over to get him something to drown his sorrows in as the last of their little party arrived.

"Riza~! I was getting worried that you'd been chained to the dickhead's desk with whatever paperwork he was trying to pawn off," she greeted the blond woman. She was truly glad to see the other female out and about since aside from her old friend, the blond cop was the only other one who seemed to tolerate her.

Chatting and laughing with everyone had been going fine, absolutely fine thank you very much, up until she heard a familiar voice speaking. Careful to not even glance in Havoc's direction, Kurenai gestured that she'd like that other drink now. She risked a quick look towards Anko, amazed at her friend's candor as she picked up her drink and downed it in one go ( ... )

Kankuro had been nursing his own drink (and then some) when the multitude of people started to hover around, and he was getting a kick out of Anko berating Mustang for a while. When he'd spent the last few weeks under her customary torture with laxatives, super glue and a few other big guns in her handy work, he'd thrown out a few himself. There was still something about this barracuda he wasn't sure he liked. Simply put she upped him on one too many occasions, but she was damn hot.

He noticed Havoc's appearance and gave the man an almost stupid grin. "Well don't you look like you need to get smashed," he said a little loudly. It seemed Kankuro was already started to head his way there.

Oddly enough, Riza seemed to be even later than Jean was, which was kind of comforting in a way and also oddly out of place since she was always the one being very prompt with time and everything. He gave Riza a half-smile before raising brow at both Anko's and Kankurou's comments, both of them being his sources of pain in the ass on many occasions. But once he received a glass of whiskey in his hands, Jean had nothing to argue about and indulged in the drink at once ( ... )

It wasn't that Kurenai was avoiding looking at Jean, more like she knew what might happen if she did and had miscalculated her current level of inebriation. Once she got past a certain amount of drink the filter came detached and she just went for it. Grinning in a far more cheery manner than she felt, she nodded at Riza's comment as she gulped her drink, coughing at what Jean said in response to Kankuro ( ... )
