Oddly enough, Riza seemed to be even later than Jean was, which was kind of comforting in a way and also oddly out of place since she was always the one being very prompt with time and everything. He gave Riza a half-smile before raising brow at both Anko's and Kankurou's comments, both of them being his sources of pain in the ass on many occasions. But once he received a glass of whiskey in his hands, Jean had nothing to argue about and indulged in the drink at once.

"Not as shitty as some people do in a uniform on a daily basis," he not-so-subtly commented before knocking back the entire drink in one go, agreeing with Kankurou's suggestion of getting smashed. Too bad he had a high toleration of alcohol. His eyes lingered over towards Kurenai's, who seemed to be not looking at him, if on purpose or not, he probably already knew, but kept quiet on it. He wasn't really even aware that she was going to be here.

"Right? Backdated work and old newspapers and all," Jean nodded, agreeing with Riza. If anyone knew about said desk of horrors, it was the ones that had to deal with Mustang everyday.

It wasn't that Kurenai was avoiding looking at Jean, more like she knew what might happen if she did and had miscalculated her current level of inebriation. Once she got past a certain amount of drink the filter came detached and she just went for it. Grinning in a far more cheery manner than she felt, she nodded at Riza's comment as she gulped her drink, coughing at what Jean said in response to Kankuro.

"Shit kiddo, he's got you there. I can definitely attest to who here looks best in uniform." she smirked, finishing off drink number four and turning to the bar with a definite swagger in her hips. "Hmm, do I need another drink, or do we need to get some music and entertainment going up in here? Oh, there's a karaoke set-up, who wants to make an ass of themselves with me? Sabaku? Light? Havoc?"

She threw the last one out there kind of as a joke, flicking her hair over her shoulder as she leaned back against the bar and raised her eyebrows slightly. Kurenai kept her gaze on him for a moment, turning away when the bartender lightly tapped her shoulder. He handed her a drink, pointing at a table where a man waved at her. Suppressing a slight shudder she held the drink up and nodded her thanks, taking a very small sip. "To being here, and now."

Anko could only raise an amused eyebrow at Kurenai tossing back drink after drink like it were water, and could only manage a soft advisement of 'Slow it down, Sparky', under her breath for her friend's ears only. While she enjoyed tormenting the hell out of people, she did have her no-go areas, and she really didn't want her friend or (as much as she hated to think of him as such,) her co-worker at one another's throats with the personal matters still unresolved between them. It would definitely put a damper on her evening if she was going to have to beat the fuck out of the both of them for killing the decent vibe going. If only they weren't so stupid to not realize they kept just missing the other looking in their direction.

It only proved her point as to why you should never get yourself locked into that sort of thing. Who in the hell needed the damned drama?

"Personally, I don't know how in the hell you two have managed under him so for so long," she grumbled, still sitting there with Riza and Jean and the younger two. A little more sedately, she polished off her third drink before waving over the bartender to take care of any necessary refills. After a moment's thought, she threw in a request for shots of tequila for any of them who wanted one. Depositing a few drops of hot sauce of the joint of her thumb and finger, she delicately licked the skin clean, dropped the shot and sunk her teeth into a lime wedge with a sharp hiss as the liquor burned it's way down her throat.

Kurenai heard the soft warning Anko provided and instantly put her latest drink down, not wanting a repeat of the high school 'broken table' incident or the 'bar barfing bonanza' either. Glancing up at Mustang, she began to wrap a few strands of hair around her finger in a nervous twitch as she responded to him. "Oh please, you've never heard me sing and I don't intend to change that tonight. However, if the bartender wants to indulge a little request, I would love if there was some music good enough to dance to put on."

She had definitely had too much to drink, and not enough to eat, and figured if she started dancing she could eventually dance herself sober. It had happened before.

"Don't worry, I'm not going to take off my shoes and dance on the bar, I can't think anyone would appreciate that." She turned to the bartender, very quietly requesting water with a slice of lime in it. Taking a sip, she was about to comment on how Roy had managed so long in his position when she felt her cleavage start vibrating. Nearly dropping her drink, she remembered that she had shoved her phone in there when she was getting ready.

Carefully walking over to where Anko was sitting, she leaned closer and spoke rather softly to her friend. It was still loud enough that Jean and Riza could hear her. "I need a favor, my phone is ah...tucked in my bra and it's ringing. I'm waiting on a call from someone important but my hands have lime juice on them. Can you grab it?"

Havoc was more than happy to shoot an unhappy glare at Mustang, although it was one mostly out of habit and nothing to do with what he was all messed up about now. Instead, he just played around with the cigarette stick he had produced from his pocket, it giving him a slightly calming affect. At Anko's question, Jean first opted to watch the woman drink with finesse, not exactly surprised at all with how good she was at it. Hell, he probably would've expected some ink about her person. Maybe one day when he really did feel like getting hit in the face, he'll ask her if she ever considered being a biker chick for life. (Maybe she already was one.)

"For me, it's cigarettes." The long white stick was produced from under the table, before it went back to being Jean's little hidden comfort. Which didn't prove to be very useful for long when he overheard Kurenai's request from her direction, suddenly making the cigarette snap into two.

His face was the perfect epitome of "stoic", but his mind was already railing. At how he thought she was doing this on purpose and exactly why she needed to, well, he just didn't have a goddamned clue.

"Cigarettes," he repeated in clipped voice, giving the excuse to what he was about to do, before he removed himself from the bar and made his way towards the exit. He needed a drink.

Anko had just set the shot glass back down on the bar and was nodding sagely to Jean's response when she registered Kurenai's not so whispered request.

She was glad the shot was down else she probably would have snorted it and tequila in the nose burned like a bitch - but that was another story for another time. Shaking her head, she dipped a couple fingers in her friend's cleavage without further ado, groping around the soft flesh for the source of Kurenai's issue. After a few awkward moments she managed to pluck out the phone, flipping it open and holding it out for Kurenai to grab, juicy fingers or no.

Kurenai watched Jean leave with a confused expression on her face, knowing it was somehow connected to her and wondering what was up. She hadn't brought a pocketbook tonight, nor had she even brought her car opting for a cab instead, and tucking her phone into her bra had been a standard practice when she was in similar situations. A few people would probably be appalled to know that her money and ID were tucked into the side of her panties.

Taking the phone, mouthing a soft 'thank you' to Anko as she turned to walk outside, Kurenai had no problem taking the phone now. Citrus juices had a habit of staining clothing, and she liked this dress. "Hi Roger, it's Kurenai. What's the latest regarding the 'situation' with Ryuzaki's mother?" she was heard saying into the phone as she made her way outside to find a quiet spot.

Gesturing to the bartender to do her up another shot, Anko snickered softly at the little parring going on beside her.

"I knew I liked you for a reason, though how you've gotten by so long without shooting certain nuisances in the foot, I'll never know," she praised Riza, shooting a point look in Roy's direction. "Target practice can understandably help, but live targets are the optimum choice. In my so very humble opinion at least." Repeating her motions from before, she quickly tossed back the shot and gestured for another.

Walking back inside, Kurenai found herself a place to sit next to Mustang as she held out her phone.

"Hey, can you put this in your pocket and I'll get it before I leave?" she asked, smiling sweetly as she glanced at Anko. "That was about the situation with Ryuzaki's mother, she's coming here. It'll be fun." She narrowed her eyes slightly, reaching for her drink. "I've never wanted to get more plastered than I do right now."

It took her a second to realize there was something going on that she had interrupted. "So ah, I took a cab here and I'm going to need a ride home at some point, who's up for playing my DD?" she asked cheekily, shrugging. "I'd ask Havoc but he seems to have taken off."
