Harlequin is where it's at, my dear friend.

I want my cake and eat it too. I want deep space future gun action, and romance, and happy endings.

Harlequin doesn't provide deep space future gun action, sadly.

Maybe I lend you Endless Universe, if you haven't read it before... MZB, kind of strange, but I LOVE it. It's kind of like Expendable, same premise of a separate class of people who explore the universe, but it's very different too. Very character based. Very well written.

Sabriel is good for a happy ending and truly weird story, but I remember you not liking Garth Nix? Ari has my vampire fluff, or I would lend you that. Most of the fluffy-fluff I have is Yaoi. I have an awful lot of that, if you want. Anything Catherine Asaro is usually good for fluffy-fluff sci-fi you can't put down where the guy gets the girl in the end. I'm currently reading the Black-Jack Geary books, which are sci-fi and AWESOME and I think he gets Desjani at the end. I'm not at the end yet, though. But I want them to end up together. She rocks so hard and he needs that. That's all I can think of off hand, with my dead brain, but I'll go check the bibliothèque and I can probably come back with a few more suggestions.

He does get the girl! Black Jack, that is. And it is so cute and adorable and great! I have been grinning since I read their Happily Ever After. The whole book is adorable because they love each other, but can't even talk about it openly. It's SO CUTE. Highly recommend. Jack Campbell is the author. First book is Dauntless, followed by, in this order, Fearless, Courageous Valiant, Relentless and Victorious. The six together are the Lost Fleet series. Really good sci-fi. They also do NOT have faster than light technology, so fights and things have to be planned out in consequence of not knowing what the enemy is going to do until an hour after they do it. It is a very, very interesting read.

Your mom doesn't like Nix.

Seriously, I do like Nix. I remember quite enjoying the Abhorsen books. Maybe you can lend me those Black Jack books while we're in Rawdon.
