Dear Yuletide Writer!

Oct 14, 2012 20:36

Hello, Mysterious Stranger! I'm thrilled you'll be writing for me and I can't wait to see what you'll come up with. (And if you're just here browsing through Yuletide letters while waiting for assignments to go out, welcome! If you're waffling on fandoms to offer or thinking about writing treats feel free to steal some inspiration.:)

I'm really easy to please. I love these fandoms and for two I've read very little fic for them so anything you write is almost guaranteed to make me twirl around with glee. Some particular likes and dislikes, if you're interested:

Likes: Hurt/Comfort. I love characters taking care of each other, especially characters who have a hard time putting their feelings into words. Bedside vigils, treating wounds, keeping watch over someone sleeping and recovering, all things that will make me melt. Nothing's better than seeing how characters feel based on how they treat each other without any words needing to be said.

Rescues! Love characters panicking when someone they love is in danger and moving Heaven and Hell to keep them safe. Fighting against impossibly odds, Us against the world, all of that good stuff.

Finding your place. I love lonely, isolated people finding each other, where they belong and who they want to belong there with, even if it's not easily understood by outsiders.

Sacrifices. Few things make my chest go tight like a one character making a hard choice or giving something up for the sake of a loved one without having to be asked, especially if the second character never knows. (Of course this can go too far - uncalled for or just stupid sacrifices don't have nearly the same effect.:)

Dislikes: Non-con. It's not a trigger but not in these fandoms, please.

Death!fic. Happy ending for Christmas.

I'm repeating my requests for each fandom, with some elaboration here and there. Now with visual aides!

Tombstone

"Anything focusing on Doc and Wyatt would make me happy - an incident pre-movie where they're cut off and surrounded by enemies, or where one's hurt and the other has to keep him going until backup can get there, or the two of them meeting and the friendship forming from there (sticking to the historical record or not!) Or even a story set in modern times with the two of them reincarnate and find each other again! Slash or strong friendship, either are welcome. Virgil and Morgan are also more than welcome to appear; I'd love a story about the four of them being a family and there for each other, even if they all don't always agree - say a story where Doc gets into trouble and Virgil steps in for the rescue, because just because he doesn't like what Doc does all the time doesn't mean anyone gets to touch him."

There can never be enough Tombstone fic. Doc/Wyatt (Doc & Wyatt, deep friendship is good too!) is really where my heart is, although fic exploring Wyatt's relationship with his brothers in addition to his friendship with Doc would be joy. While I'd like Doc/Wyatt to be the spine of the story, that can be anything from a first-time fic to an Outsider POV story, exploring Morgan or Virgil's thoughts on what's up with Wyatt. Like I say in the request, a story about Virgil protecting Doc not even so much because he really likes the man but because he's important to Wyatt would be gold.

Into The Woods

"I'd really love a post-musical story about the four of them all setting up house and becoming a family, especially with Baker and Cinderella getting a second chance at a happily ever after."

I want Baker to get his second chance and Cinderella to find her "something in-between." Friends slowly falling in love without even realizing it is always a fantastic thing. Feel free to write Jack and Red as a couple or as developing a more brother/sister relationship, as long as the four of them all come together after all the trauma of the musical to form a new family.

I'm very partial to the Original/DVD cast and believe that performance is still streaming on Netflix.

Warriors Of Virtue

This one's by far the most obscure of the three, so let's see what these two look like:

(That's Komodo on the left and Grillo on the right.)

"I love Grillo and Komodo's dynamic, the devotion Grillo shows him despite the obvious, deep crazy and the moments of lucidity where Komodo's able to acknowledge it.

Some prompts (just as suggestions, optional details and all that!):

1) A post-movie fic where Komodo try to start fresh, figure out what's changed now that Komodo's sane and doesn't remember his whole stint as an insane despot - Grillo wondering whether Komodo even still needs a second now that he's functional again, for example, or Komodo slowly finding out what he'd been up to and wondering how Grillo can even look at him. I'd especially like it if Komodo's memories start coming back and Grillo helps him through it. Or Komodo goes on a quest to make amends and Grillo faithfully accompanies him.

2) We find out in the movie that Grillo used to be one of the good guys, an ally to the Roos - what the hell happened? How did he wind up in Komodo's army in the first place?

3) Something happens to Komodo - an assassin slips through the guard, he's poisoned, his magic backfires, something - and Grillo has to do something ridiculous (and probably evil) to save him. I'd especially like the Roos having to figure out how to fight someone who's committing evil acts for love, something they should be protecting."

I am head over heels with this movie, although I think like most people above the age of 10 when they first see it I'm more in love with the world-building and the villains and the gorgeous sets. As far as that goes I would especially be interested in a story exploring the concept that intentionally taking another's life does identifiable damage to the soul, and what that means for the villains of the story.

I LOVE Loyal Lieutenants. Love them, and they way Grillo and Komodo are written it's like that part of the movie was designed especially for me. There's really no other word to describe how he treats Komodo other than devotion and more than anything I'd like a story that really gets into his head. The movie outright says he was childhood friends with the Roos, clearly a valued friend at that, and now he's seconding a lunatic sorcerer who's strip mining the life force of the planet in a bid for eternal life. How does that happen? When did he decide to hitch his star to Komodo? How did he handle what had to be his leader's slow slide into madness? The rest of Komodo's people are mooks or idiot sycophants - why does Grillo stick around? (Komodo's pretty and all, but come on.)

And Komodo himself - it's clear he wasn't always the madman we meet in the movie, and he clearly values Grillo as much as he can. How did this all start? And after the movie, when he's sane again how can he deal with everything he'd done?

There is no fic for this movie. We can change all that!:)
