- I'm deeply grateful the nor'easter now bedeviling the folks farther up the coast decided to give us a pass this time around. Ghoulish rumor has it The Old Farmer's Almanac predicted the last two epic snow storms to hit our area and predicts one more in March. It doesn't have to be accurate every time, does it? I think Virginia gets more snow than Colorado. We do get deep snows here but they melt fast. Out one of the biggest storms I recall was in Blacksburg and it lasted forever.

I agree, February brings out the urge to cuddle. What a sweet picture.

This year has brought us more than I remember since we moved here over 20 years ago. Good old El Nino. Or La Nina. I forget which weather pattern we're caught in :) And of course, this would be the year our little snow blower decided to conk out. It's in the shop now, hopefully getting its loins girded for the storm coming in on Wednesday.

My niece (who also lives in Colorado - Ft. Collins) doesn't have much sympathy for us. But then she grew up in Alaska. Whenever we talk about snow, she just laughs.
