Cain had seen Rogue head into Vegas and followed her. He hung back to keep her from seeing him and ended up loosing her in the crowd. He had a couple ideas about where she might be going though.

He stayed to the side streets and made his way to the rubble filled lot. He wondered if it was still a crime scene. Maybe it was a bad idea for him to be there.

He stayed in the shadow of a nearby building and did his best impression of a dumpster. He watched Rogue standing in the middle of the rubble.

He didn't know what to say to her, so he just watched silently.

He spreads hid hands on his thighs and looks at them for a long moment. He doesn't want to talk about this, but he knows he has to give her something if this is ever going to work out.

"...Then I hope I'm a better man than my father was."

"Ya don't know, do ya? Ya can't say ya won't start tossin' me around like you did him, can ya?" Blinking then, eyes narrowing. "What did yer father do?"

[keggernaut]

"No," he says quietly. "I don't know for sure."

He shrugs uncomfortably. "Y'know, just the normal shit. Smacked my mom around til she left with some other guy who said he'd treat her better. Backhanded me a lot. Yelled. The usual."

He shrugs again, trying to project the idea that everything was run-of-the-mill.

"So ya could snap and start hittin' me around. Ya aren't helpin' yer case, Juggernaut."

She goes silent a minute, looking at the wreck of a building. "I loved him."

[keggernaut]

"I'm not my father!" He says with certainty. "My old man couldn't have lived through half the shit I've lived through.

And shit Rogue, who's to say you couldn't snap too? Neither of us are alright."

His gaze follows hers across the rubble, and he remembers the feeling of it all coming down and somehow not crushing him. There isn't much more he can say, so he stays quiet.

"That magic thing, the stone we took off Fenris? What it do t'you?"

She didn't want to ask but she had to. Real magic existed.

He seems glad for the change in subject. "It made my powers better. It made me stronger and tougher.

The other Juggernaut that you were talking to... He told me that he was just a normal human before he got the rock. Said it came from a temple."

She blinks at that. "Wonder if that's where the guy that sold it t'the incest twins found it. I mean, I can't imagine him just pickin it up on the street."

Making a face, hand digging into her pocket and pulling out the card. Turning it over and over again in her fingers.

"I wonder if he had had it, would he haved lived."

[keggernaut]

He grins a little in spite of himself. "Who're the incest twins?"

"I don't know. The other Cain said his rock would make anyone strong. But what if this one just boosts whatever power you've got already?"

"The pair running Fenris that had Gambit kidnap me for them. Weirdo pair that seriously creeped me out."

She kept twirling the card. "What is it ya want from me?"

"I..." He frowns. His life really hasn't prepared him for these kinds of conversations and he has a hard time finding the words.

"I missed you. When you left.

I want to be around you again."

"Ya could've come and talked to me and not been all Cain smash with my boyfriend,' she mutters, fixing him with a stare.

"Talked to you where? Xavier's? That wasn't happening.

Then I heard that whenever anyone saw the X-men, you weren't with them. So I cam looking for you.

I didn't expect to find you on the arm of some thirty year old guy."

"So you attacked him? Brilliant plan there.' Rolling her eyes and making a face at him.

"What did his age matter? That's mah business and not yours. Fenris had me kidnapped, Gambit saved me from them, Ah stayed with him. Simple mathemetical equation."

[keggernaut]

"Hey, I've never been the brains of the operation, and I've never said I was.

You just told me he's the one who kidnapped you... Now he saved you? That doesn't sound simple to me."
