Thoughts of today...

What dmoira said. Also, speaking from the "other side of the desk," I can tell you that if you don't want to be in the classroom, there's simply no getting around that, and it becomes a bad scene for everybody involved. It bores you, it frustrates the teacher, and nobody goes home happy.

Believe me, there is nothing wrong with not wanting to go to college. It's most definitely not for everyone (and I think it's a shame that we have a cultural expectation that everyone should go to college, to say nothing of the fact that most employers expect that, but that's a rant for a whole 'nother time). At the end of the day, you're the person who makes the ultimate decision over what choices will most likely yield the best results in your life. You can't let someone else second-guess you, or say "No, no, this is what you really want."

If you can find a program at SCC that looks even a little bit interesting, the government will pay for the whole damn thing.
Right now I am also, in the eyes of the government, a single mother. My tuition at SCC this quarter was 675, books were 200 and I'm eligible for a $1,000 grant. And an $800 subsidized loan.
