Well, I was bored and spent most of the day reading through my lj. Lots of entries for me from 2003 - 2007, but only a month or so in 2008-9. That is when I quit writing and doing art, just one long period of uninspiration, I guess. What amazes, is how I found the time to do all that I did in those first 4 years. Was the fandom truly that small ( Read more... )

I hope you don't mind, but I linked your site with mine ^^ I love your fics and no worries! I just started finishing up my LOTR fics after a huge hiatus of the muses so I understand! No worries hun!

Oh, I'm glad you're back! :)

Actually, I think fandom was bigger back in the day than it is now. So many of my friends have wandered off to greener pastures, found new fandoms and interests...left LJ altogether. Quality I think is in the eye of the beholder, but I agree that there are some very nice artwork and stories being produced now.

I don't have as much online time as I used to, but I do budget an hour or so in the evenings to surf and read and post.

Perhaps so, but it seems like I had much more time in those days, lol. Yes, many have left for good or else moved on to other fandoms. Don't get me wrong, there were some great stories back then but I have read them all. Time for new and what I have seen of the ones you guys have posted recently, they are fantastic. So, lots of reading in the future :)

Thank you. I loved my drabble and am reading Mercedes Lackey all over again. Wish she would write more Valdemar.

=)

I wish she would write more too.

Now she started writing a new trilogy in that universe, and the first is called Collegium. I downloaded the e-book a few weeks ago. Do you wish me to send it to you? I haven't read it yet.

Thanks for the offer but I found that one already and read it. IMO, it did not measure up to her earlier work but regardless, I am waiting impatiently for book two and three. Besides, it is hard to top Firesong and the Gryphons ;)

*hugs*

It's good to have you back. If I may, I'll recommend an author who has two finished stories. She's awesome with more awesome. At least, I liked her fics. :D Her ff.net profile page is: http://www.fanfiction.net/u/497800/boz4PM and she's boz4PM on LJ as well. Her stories start with Don't Panic: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1690622/1/Dont_Panic and then continue with Okay, NOW Panic. I personally enjoyed the stores and the realism she put into them.

Anyway, it's way awesome to hear from you. :D

Es.

It's so good to see you back, Mira! We've missed you. I've been away from Tolkien for a little while - my slashy santa story was the first that I had written in a couple of years.

It is hard just to find time to write. I can't imagine running an archive or being a mod for a group. I remember when I would have 3 or 4 stories in the fire at once; now I'm lucky to work on one at a time.

Hehe, and you are one of the ones that I always thought of as prolific. I know you write almost daily in lj and your stories are usually lengthy and detailed. Wonderful reading, if I may say so. I am surprised to hear that was your first LOTR in a while. But hey, graduate school, work - that is a lot on your platter.

You know, I think one of the reasons I took a break from the fandom is there were so many good authors, so many great stories, and no way I could read them all. I became overwhelmed. Sort of like when I go to the library and can't make a decision, so come home with books I have already read, lol. On top of that, my writing had stagnated and I felt intimidated because it seemed everyone else wrote so well and with such ease. But absence makes the heart grow fonder, and I am back. If not to write, then to read about my favourite Elves.

It is late, so I ramble. Thanks for the welcome. I look forward to reading the Secret Santa.
