Bean's doc suggested a med change to help him be even more stable. He's having anxiety at school and calling me every day or texting me (now that I have given him a family-only phone) saying he doesn't feel good. And it's true he doesn't feel good, but it's not because he's got a physical ailment. It's all 'head drama,' as he calls it. But when he' ( Read more... )

It's Trileptal (with an "l" not a "t"), and it's out in generic form, so I would recommend you get the generic, as the price difference is enough to write home about. My daughter has been on it for years (first name brand then generic starting last year), at 150mg AM and 300 mg PM. It works very well as a mood stabalizer. No issues here with it, and it was added as a part of the mood stabilization regimen about 6 years ago.

It has a good history, from what I've learned in my own research and via the two pdocs she's had. It should help. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you both.

Hard to read the doc's handwriting on the 'script (stereotypical..lol); but I did research after posting and I feel a bit better about it.

BTW.."you always remember ur first doctor!"

Oh yes indeed. And a Google would have brought you to Trileptal soon enough, as the engine is so good about that nowadays. :)

And yes indeed I do, Tom Baker. Hard to believe that 2010 will bring us Doctor #11 with an actor who's about 10 years younger than me! :)

I know it's not easy, but you're doing a great job! Bean is lucky to have such a caring and involved mom.

Yes you are. Please don't call yourself a dumb mom, you're anything but! I can't imagine how you do it, especially with more than 1 kid, a career, and marriage too.

I was on 900 mg of Trileptal for almost 3 years. My pdoc used it has a mood stabilizer. I never had any problems with it until it decided to stop working one day and I went full blown manic. But for 3 years it worked really well.
