Grief

So Mother has been gone for about six weeks now. We talk about her all the time; Webster says he had no idea how much he would miss her. She absolutely filled our lives -- if we weren't with her, we were thinking and talking about her. As we still are

That's a neat way to look at the PCT. I hiked a tiny bit of it (just a few miles near Campo) years ago after reading Eric Ryback's book, and it gave me a thrill.

Hey, you have a right to your grief and it doesn't matter if it's a spouse or a mom or dad. That woman had no right to say anything to you. No one said anything to me about that when I went to my local church. People had lost spouses and family members but we were treated all the same. As far as anyone in the room was concerned we were all grieving. Try the church, I doubt you will be treated the same way. It's been 14 years for me and I'm still grieving.

Thank you so much. I agree -- as a friend told me, grief is grief is grief. I'm not sure I'll try another group, but I have been googling and, if I do decide to, there are many others to choose from.

I completely believe that 14 years later you're still grieving. It isn't anything one gets over, is it. Thank you.

Thank you for checking in -- you've been on my mind a lot. I'm glad you recognized that the support group was not the right place for you, and I'm glad you continue to practice self care and be gentle with yourself.

Hey, if you ever do pick a section of the PCT to hike I would be delighted to hike with you! I've done the High Sierra section (the John Muir Trail) plus a few other sections, and it's all incredible.
