Ouch. That's all I can say. I haven't read further yet, so I dunno if this is how it stands, or whether you're somehow going pull off a miracle in the next chapter or two (either way, this fic is awesome ;)

She was lost and always would be now. To lose family, friend, lover, touchstone. To lose all that and more in one moment. How did anyone survive that; recover?

*Wipes a tear* Utterly gorgeous writing, that. Ouch.

And now I'm clicking forward to see how it all ends...

I love your resonses. You're so kind and encouraging. I know you've read the end now, so I guess I don't have to tell you that this ends happily... *g*

nooooooooooooooooooo! But I did have a feeling you might go there.

Very exciting, I love the vipers shooting in the hangar bay. Awesome image.

Sometimes I wonder what the reaction to this chapter would have been if I'd been posting one at a time lol

And I'm glad you enjoyed the viper stuff since I think action-y stuff is the hardest for me to write. =S

Oh my poor girl. After all that, she loses what's most important to her after all. Her grief was so beautfully private and restrained and despairing but going on anyway. He was there and then he was gone. His love was real and then it was dead. Not in some knowing act of dramatic sacrifice, but rather like so many deaths in so many wars, just doing his job. Killed in the line of duty.

That's a really beautiful way to put it and it means a lot to me that you're taking the time to get aspects like that that I was trying to convey. I guess it's just that when you take all this time to think through every aspect of a fic, it's nice when someone acknowledges the stuff under the surface too. =)

Well you set it up so well, it's impossible to miss if you are paying attention.:) And I will admit to knowing what it's like to a person I care about to war, so that definitely colors anything I read about it such things.
