I'm wayyyyyyyyyyy behind on comments, but I'm loving these little afterhocks! :-) I am quite thoroughly hooked on this verse of yours. ;-)

This one makes me a little sad, though. That distance and reserve that Sam cultivated for much of your story is still evident: he's sheilding himself against more loss and hurt, of course, but he seems to think the words "my son" the same way as he'd say "my shoe". It's a good thing I know that this *will* resolve, by the end. :-) Hope you have more - these are like popping nacho chips, lol!

Oh how wonderful! I particularly loved the last line. And poor Sam, puking his guts out because tah-dah! He's a daddy! It's nice to get Sam's POV of this scene. *g* Lovely work as always.
