Oh, good stuff. I'm reminded of the star-watching vignette G'thon did a while back, and it fits perfectly.

Something was niggling at me while I read this, but I didn't pick up on it till Issa reminded me. I don't know whether you were thinking of G'thon's vignette when you wrote this, but the echoes are so poignant, especially when you reread his (cough) and can't help but notice that while Miniyal feels frustrated, she hasn't gotten bitter. Maybe that's "hasn't gotten bitter yet," but I am optimistic for her.

I didn't have it in mind when I started writing, but about halfway through it did hit me that it was the same sort of thing. So, then I had to finish it because it did tie in nicely.
