Heh. Keep meaning to post about Christmas/New Year in Malaysia/Singapore and other things (like a rant about Andrew Neil's Posh and Posher programme) for ages. I finally get round to it and it's about mobile phones!

Cut for unnatural feelings about mobile phones! )

I've aways disliked Nokias because of their ubiquity (remember when 85% of the UK mobile market was 3210s?), and now they seem (as you've mentioned here) somewhat behind the times technologically (smartphones today seem to live and die by their apps. Droid and iOS do this well, nobody else does, it seems)

Anyway, Nokia had a pretty effective market segmentation model - 3000 series phones like the 3210s and now the C-series for the consumer/mass market, 6000/E-series for business users, 7000/N-series for power users/enthusiasts and so on so ubiquity wouldn't have been an issue anyway.
Main thing that's changed is that Nokia's lost it at the high end and my brand loyalty tends to be because of, not despite, product quality. Still, it could be worse - at least there is an alternative to the iPhone!
