Top had to put his best non-threatening face to talk to the small children inside that room. He was horrified to see how young they were. The same age as his oldest child who was barely more than a baby. Tears threatened his eyes but he held them at bay. The children were scared and suspicious, terrified that he was just another client, there to hurt them. One child remained lying in bed, obviously the one to whom Ri Ho’s man had referred to previously. Top swore he would have tons of heads rolling off today. It was a good thing that he was not a law abiding citizen.
The oldest kid seemed to recognize his name and dared to ask what he wanted. After a while, he had some of the information he needed. Promising the kids they would no longer have to stay there, he went back out.
His men had already subdued everyone, leaving the ones who surrendered alive and awaiting judgement. Then, one by one, Top entered every room, asking all the children the same questions. Soon he had his list of who would die and who would be given a second change. The first list was much longer.
Taking a gun from one of his men, he decided to start shortening that list right away.
…
Jung Il Woo and Donghae exchanged uneasy looks when they heard the distant sounds of fighting but their ear pieces remained silent. Kim Soo Hyun picked up his phone and contacted the other cops who were stationed at other streets. They also had lost radio contact with the bodyguards and could hear shots. Il Woo called Captain Rain to report the situation.
-Move in. I’m sending more people over. If there’s gun fire we need to get there immediately. This is now official police business.
-Yes, Captain.
Donghae watched as the cops talked on their police car radios. Meanwhile he tried calling everyone but got no response. Next he tried Junsu. If Junsu was still on top of the building maybe he could answer his phone unlike the other guys.
-Donghae! You guys need to get here.
-Junsu! What’s happening?
-Siwon showed himself and scared Taemin. Everyone had to blow their cover. I also think they must have found our van cause the ear pieces went silent. This is a mess. I have tons of people running around down there. Taemin and Jaejoong are with Changmin and Yunho. I’m going to go down and help Yoochun. You guys need to get here fast. Please. There seems to be even more men than we thought.
Donghae could distinctly hear screams and shots being fired. Junsu was in fact still shooting as he talked with him.
-Were on our way. We’ll arrive to the square still according to Yoochun’s plan. Captain Rain is sending more men too.
-Hurry.
When Junsu ended the call, Il Woo had already long started the car and was driving into the middle of the fight. The four other cops, Lee Min Ho, Lee Jong-suk, Shin Hye-sung and Jun Jin were on route as well.
…
Junsu abandoned his riffle on top of the building. It was useless to remain there. He was even starting to have trouble identifying the bad guys in the middle of all the people running and screaming. He desperately wanted to call Yoochun but knew his boyfriend would not be able to answer. Most of their men had concentrated around Jaejoong’s location when all hell broke loose, leaving only a small team with Yoochun. However, the mafia men who went after Yoochun had not been a small team.
He raced down the stairs, grabbing the two smaller guns in his holster, ready to fire his way to Yoochun.
…
Changmin could not believe his eyes. He felt as if time had stopped. Jun Ki was being held at gun point by the same man he and Yoochun had tried capturing before. He studied the situation carefully, searching for weak spots.
It was obvious Jun Ki had been taken by surprise. The man with the snake tattoo on his neck was holding the assistant very tightly, the gun under the chin and ready to fire at any suspicious movement. No wonder Jun Ki hadn’t had the opportunity to fight back. With Joon-gook there were also armed men. One used a gun with a silencer and aimed somewhere behind Changmin. Out of the corner of his eyes, the tall bodyguard noticed they were shooting out car tires. The tires on the cars to where Jaejoong was running to. “Shit!”
-Remember me, pretty boy?
Changmin kept silent, searching Jun Ki’s eyes instead. The assistant looked a little scared but otherwise calm and ready to fight back as soon as that gun wasn’t pointing directly at his head. Changmin tried to remain as calm as possible, wanting to reassure Jun Ki that he was getting them out of this mess. He knew the assistant’s fighting skills were almost as good as his own. He just had to figure out how to get Joon-gook to stop holding him so tight and with that damn gun so close.
-What do you want?
-So rude. You even ignored me for a second there. You shouldn’t. Am I not holding something you value? I got to say… you have good taste. He smells really nice, looks better and feels amazing.
While the man said that, he licked Jun Ki’s neck. The assistant closed his eyes in disgust, trying to get away from that tongue but couldn’t move much because the gun was forcing his head at a weird angle.
-Hummm, delicious.
Changmin’s entire body was shaking in fury. “You’re dead. Dead.”
-What do you want?
-Me? Oh, nothing. I just thought he’d make a very pretty human shield. Remember how you shot me in my shoulder? I’m aiming higher. Think well, pretty boy. Your boyfriend here won’t look so pretty anymore with an extra hole in his pretty face.
As Joon-gook said that, he started moving backwards, getting behind his men. Most of them had ignored Changmin and went on to probably try to catch Taemin. But a few remained, protecting Joon-gook and pointing guns at him. Changmin cursed. He had no cover. He couldn’t fire because they would kill him for sure. In fact, he was almost surprised they hadn’t thought to shoot him yet. He was a sitting duck.
Joon-gook kept going. He was very pleased with himself. He remembered only too well how these supposedly harmless bodyguards had easily captured him at the motel. And how it had been necessary a ridiculously big force of Ri Ho’s men to free him. This time he wasn’t going to underestimate them. He had done his job for Siwon sending the men after Taemin. Now he was going to take care of his own skin and a human shield was just too good not to use. As soon as he was about to turn a corner, he yelled at the few men who had remained behind.
-Kill him!
…
Unaware of what was happening to Changmin or Jaejoong, Eric continued to lead his team, hoping that he was providing enough cover for his friends.
…
Junsu ran across the streets, ignoring the shots coming from Eric’s location. He had seen the number of men on each side from when he was still on top of the building and he knew Eric would take care of them in a few more minutes. His priority now was following the shots coming from the direction where Yoochun had disappeared.
…
Taemin’s heart was threatening to beat out of his chest. The second he had reached Kim Jaejoong, the business man had pulled him to continue running. Suddenly, several men had chased them and this time the shots being fired seemed to be much closer. By the time, Jaejoong’s men were surrounding them, every heart beat seemed to be accompanied by gun shots. Then, Jaejoong and Yunho pulled him to run towards two cars parked at the far end of the narrow street.
The cop kept looking back to shoot while Jaejoong just kept him running in between hiding behind anything available.
Just as they were thinking they were free, only a few meters away from the cars, there was some strange muffled sounds, barely noticeable among all the noise. And Taemin bumped into Jaejoong’s back.
-What is it?
…
Jonghyun had dark memories that sometimes gave him nightmares. He had a fair share of close calls with bad clients and Ri Ho’s men, especially with his tendency to get involved trying to get some of the younger ones from getting sucked into either prostitution or crime. However, this time he felt much more scared. He had feared for his life before but usually, there seemed to be more concern with hurting him than killing him. Not this time. This time he knew they would not stop at simply hitting him if they caught him. Not the way they were shooting to kill. One or two of Yoochun’s men were already hit but they seemed able to keep fighting. Much to Jonghyun surprise, Yoochun kept somewhat calm, directing the men and trying to keep everyone alive until help was on the way. Jonghyun prayed that someone would soon arrive.
…
Yunho could not believe his eyes. He cursed loudly. The car tires had been shot. Which meant they were about to be attacked from the sides as well. He approached Taemin and Jaejoong.
-Jae?
-Yun, we need to get to the other vehicles. But… where are…?
-Keep you’re back to mine. Here, take this. Use it. There are too many narrow streets coming here, they must be in one of them. Keep moving towards the car. We need cover.
-Ok. Stay close, Taemin. We’ll get you out of here safe, I promise.
Yunho felt one of his fears go away. Jaejoong had taken his extra gun and was already aiming it correctly. What was even better, Jaejoong sounded calm and in control. He wasn’t panicking. The strong man was back in full force.
Yunho breathed deeply, his eyes searching every corner, trying to figure out from where the shots to the tires could have come from.
In the distance, he could still see Eric and the other bodyguards fighting off Siwon’s men. He frowned a little not seeing Changmin or Jun Ki anywhere, especially because the bodyguard had been right there just moments before. “Maybe Changmin is after the men who shot the tires?”
He knew that Ri Ho’s men were in higher number and were more spread around the place. He kept moving with Jaejoong towards the two cars, expecting an attack at any moment.
…
Siwon calmly sat in his car, parked on a side street. He was happy that he had bothered to get a map of the area. The place was confusing, almost built like an ancient medieval european city. However, he was sure that he parked just at the right place. If Jaejoong managed to escape his men, he would show up here. He just needed to wait. One way or another, he was catching his prey today.
…
Jun Ki was furious but he couldn’t risk moving yet. One false movement and that gun would blow a hole to his head. He was so worried about Changmin. The bodyguard was exposed in front of a bunch of armed men. Changmin’s worried eyes flashed in his mind. He swore he would punch the guy holding him to a bloody pulp. The man would regret using him to get to Changmin.
…
Junsu finally found Yoochun. He was inside some abandoned building, holding off the men trying to break inside. He analysed his options. He was just one man. Even with his aim, it would be impossible to get enough men down until he got in trouble as well.
…
Like they had been expecting, Yunho and Jaejoong suddenly found themselves surrounded by men. Fortunately, they were close to the car and could take cover before the shooting started. Some of the other bodyguards soon came to their rescue.
After a lot of confusion, instead of shots, everything had turned into close combat. Too many people in a tight space meant they all had to stop shooting or risk getting someone in the cross fire.
Yunho thought that was the best idea of the day. He could really use punching a few heads by now. Close by, Jaejoong seemed to agree with him. The cop even had difficulty focusing on his share of bad guys when he noticed how the business man was fighting. Jaejoong looked the angriest he had ever seen which meant he looked deadly gorgeous and sexy.
During a high kick, Jaejoong’s eyes met Yunho’s and he couldn’t help but roll his eyes. He could not believe that Yunho was stealing lustful glances at him in the middle of such a crazy situation. He also couldn’t help feeling pleased about it.
…
Changmin barely had time to jump to the floor and roll away. Fortunately for him, some of Yunho’s training came in hand and he was able to still shoot while doing his crazy acrobatics. In a few heartbeats he turned back around the corner and had the initial street back in view. Eric and the others were moving up, running very fast and shooting mostly forward.
When he turned to that side of the street, Changmin cursed. Joon-gook’s men were trying to corner Jaejoong and Taemin. He was dead worried about Jun Ki but right now he needed to help his boss and trust that the assistant would be safe for a while.
Taking a deep breath, Changmin started to take down the men turning the corner. He was furious and no longer bothering with his gun. Besides, there were lots of bad guys to use as shields when anyone dared shooting instead of fighting. However, the narrow street soon meant that the gun fight had turned into a spectacle of martial arts.
The tall bodyguard smirked and put all his strength into every kick and punch. The sooner these guys were no longer a threat, the sooner he could go cut Joon-gook’s head for daring to touch his future boyfriend.
…
The cops arrived near the gun fights and were forced to prioritize. There were way too many innocent people around the area. Much as they wanted to help the bodyguards, they needed to get as many people out of harm way as possible.
Captain Rain had sent cops from the nearby areas to that location and the sirens could be heard approaching. Soon the entire place would be surrounded.
Donghae took off to help his friends. From what Junsu had said, Yoochun seemed to be the one in more need of backup so he moved in that direction.
…
Junsu was frantically trying to take down as many men as possible.
Still it was like they kept crawling out of nowhere. Worst, they were getting nearer to his location and he would soon run out of bullets. Just as he was about to get even more desperate, some mafia men went down from a different angle. Junsu looked behind him and smiled brightly at a running Donghae.
-Donghae! Am I so glad to see you!
-Hey, I’m not just the kitchen boy helper. I can do more than peel potatoes. What's the status?
-There’s too many of them.
-For guns, yes. Not for fists. Yoochun could take half easily. Too bad we can't make that happen.
Junsu froze for a second. Donghae was right. Yoochun was deadly in close combat. All of them, except for himself, were better at fighting than shooting. An idea formed in his head. Yoochun would kill him for it but he knew it could work. When he shared his idea, Donghae wasn’t an immediate fan either, however Junsu convinced him. Desperate times called for desperate measures and he was willing to take the risk.
…
Kick. Punch. Defend with elbow. Turn and kick high. Twist out of the way. Punch. Punch again. Jaejoong was focused and keeping Taemin between him and Yunho. The kid understood and kept close. He studied the men around, they seemed to want him and the boy alive. He really needed to get out of here.
Yunho was getting worried. The longer they stayed here the more dangerous it would be. He searched for an opening.
Changmin had a circle of hurt men around him. Still they kept attacking. It was pissing him off.
-Is there a damn clone factory? The fuck! Go down already and stay down!
He noticed Eric and some of their men break closer to Yunho. Suddenly, Jaejoong, Taemin and Yunho took off running while Eric was capable to prevent the mafia men from going after.
Desperately wanting to hurry up, Changmin picked up a gun and simply finished off a large number of them, aiming at legs and arms, making sure they would be incapacitated.
-I already said: stay down!
Turning to Eric, Changmin yelled as he started to run.
-I’m going to get Jun Ki. Joon-gook has him.
Eric froze for a second but couldn’t even respond. There was still enough guys standing to keep him busy and he had to cover for Jaejoong’s escape.
…
Jaejoong wondered if this time he could breathe in relief when he saw the backup escape cars in view. A difference in the running steps behind him made him turn his head. Yunho had slowed down.
-Yunho, what is it?
-They’re catching up. I’ll stall them. You and Taemin keep going.
-What? No! You can’t stay behind.
-It’s ok. I’ve got plenty of bullets and I’m angry enough to punch a platoon. Get out of here. The sooner you get to where the cops are the better.
Jaejoong hesitated for a second. He needed to save Taemin but he didn’t want to leave Yunho behind. He closed his eyes to catch a deep breath and then hugged the taller man, surprising them both.
-You make sure you stay safe or I’m kicking you in the balls.
Yunho couldn’t help but smile and hug Jaejoong really tight like he never wanted to let him go.
-It’s a promise.
The cop stared at the huge beautiful eyes looking up at him in worry. His own eyes drifted down to full lips but he figured this was not the time and place for a first kiss. He placed a soft kiss to Jaejoong’s cheeks instead.
-Take care. Go.
Jaejoong blushed and actually hide his face for two seconds. He tightened his hold of Yunho and whispered goodbye.
-See you soon.
Just as Jaejoong turned to leave he allowed his own lips to brush a soft kiss to Yunho’s cheek as well. Then he grabbed Taemin’s hand and run off to one of the cars. Behind him, he left one bemused looking cop who was touching his face as if he had just woke up from a dream.
…
Inside his car, Siwon yelled in rage.
-How dare he? Oh, my precious, you are going to pay for that. Follow him.
Siwon had been parked further back. So further back that his car was practically hidden from view. However, he had managed to see the exchange between Jaejoong and Yunho. With him there were two other cars. The lawyer ordered the men in one of the cars to kill Yunho but made sure to lower his window as he drove by Yunho.
The cop was startled to see more men coming out of a parked car while two cars drove by at high speed. His blood turned into ice when he noticed Siwon smiling as he drove after Jaejoong.
…
Chagmin ran and ran, checking every corner and every door. He had no idea where Joon-gook could have taken Jun Ki.
…
Yoochun was getting worried. Soon they would run out of bullets but the men surrounding them were still too many.
Then, out of nowhere, the shots stopped. He waited to see what was happening. They had managed to block themselves inside some old building that still had doors, except for the front one. There was movement there. He readied his gun.
A dark familiar head appeared. Yoochun’s eyes wondered if he was dreaming. Moments later. Junsu was entering the room and being forced to kneel while some big guy pointed a gun at his head.
-Drop your weapons or he dies.
