I steal your number 2 and make out with him in front of you! Thomas Lane's personality made me date a classics major for 3 years. Thomas Lane's looks paved the way for my need for Draco fic, I'm sure of it ;)

for years and years, thomas lane was my romantic ideal.

then i met michael, who's about as far from thomas as you can get, and that was all over. *grin*

Duncan MacLeod from Highlander, because he'd romance the hell out of me and would give up his Quickening rather than let me pay. Also, a four-hundred year old Immortal with as busy a history as his? More fun stories than Giles, I'll bet.

And now I'm so lost in that thought that I can't come up with any more. Later!

highlander: a fandom i hear about all the time and know nothing about. but i'll take your word for the fact that he'd be a great dinner companion. <3

Clever, chivalrous, Scottish, tanned and lithe. Probably the best swordsman in the world. What's not to love?

you had me at scottish. there's nothing not to love, apparently!

(do you have dvds? could we watch them while you were here? we have a region-free dvd player.)

1) Nan from Tipping the Velvet-
The realizations she comes to in this book and how her character changes. I think she would make interesting reflections and have good ideas to discuss.

2)Shug from The Color Purple-
I am especially interseted in her after reading Alice Walker's biography. She was based on a woman her grandmother knew who was her grandfather's kept woman for many years. But she wasn't just one-dimensional. Supposdely a very interesting and compassionate woman as well.

3)Grace from Joan of Arcadia
Yeah, she has problems, but who doesn't. She has a refresingly honest view of the world and isn't afraid to say sarcastic yet interesting things. I also like the vunerability that she tries so hard to hide and would want to find out more about it.

4)Jeremy from Sports Night
He's a huge dork but also is really, really interesting. I appreciate his self-depreciating sense of humour and also how dorky he is but also kind of cute at the same time.

5)Lyra from His Dark Materials Trilogy ( ... )

and jeremy makes natalie that wonderful meal and then falls asleep before they can eat, which is just the cutest thing ever, and totally something i'd appreciate in a dinner companion. awww, jeremy. <3

It completely is the cutest thing ever! Plus, the first kiss they shared when everyone else was dancing. Just perfect.

I just finished watching the episodes for the first time. I plan to buy them at some point so I can watch them again. Also, it's so weird that the "show" ended on such a happy note while in real life the show was ending.

I'd love to sit down and talk to Lyra, but I'd have to sit on my hands. It'd be hard not to want to pet Pantalaimon.

Wake beat Duke? (I don't keep track of these things usually, but that means BWK, a Wake alumn, will be in a good mood today ( ... )

I'd get him really drunk and take advantage of him.
hee. i bet you totally would, too. josh is totally a lightweight drunk.

i only want to have dinner with josh if i can have sam there, too. and maybe joey lucas and mandy. that would be an excellent dinner party, and maybe people would throw things at each other.

Teehee, I forgot that Josh was a lightweight! Yay!

I'd invite Joey and Sam, but I'm not a Mandy fan. Also totally uninvited and prohibited from attending would be Amy, I do not like her at all. However, what would be the most fun would be to invite Josh and Donna and Sam and CJ. Josh and Donna could do the cute banter thing and the rest of us could sit back and say "awwww, cute!" and laugh.

and maybe later i could smooch cj. that'd be okay. *grin*

1. Carla D'Amico from the War for the Oaks by Emma Bull - we could talk music and she seems the most sensible of the lot. And if I'm lucky, Dan will join us for dinner and Edie and the Phouka could drop by for coffee and dessert.

2. Rupert Giles from Buffy:the Vampire Slayer - what you said. Witty, wise, learned ... happy sigh. We could talk mythology and conspiracy theory and the mysteries of American youth culture and the joys of the smells of paper. Not so much Wesley, since Giles seems to want to talk to someone, find someone to share with, and Wes was always more "See what I can do." in attitude.

3. Rawhide from Buckaroo Banzai: Across the Eighth Dimension - because Perfect Tommy makes me shrug and Buckaroo's too out there, but Rawhide could tell stories and laugh with me. I probably should say Reno, since he is the storyteller, but I'm shallow and influenced by Clancy Brown's jawline ( ... )

I just want to see the hall with ladies in white samite and the wounded king.
oh! oh, yes! completely! i can't believe i didn't think of that.

well, i can believe i didn't think of that, because it's totally random, but you're exactly right despite that. that would be wonderful, absolutely magical.

with the variety of people you've got on here, it's close to random.

I don't know half these fandoms.

(Except you do have to watch Highlander. Even the actor (Peter Wingfield) when asked about homoerotic subtext in an interview said something to the effect of, "You do watch the show, right?"

Electricity and joygasms and crotch shots and people falling to their knees once an episode and getting all hot and sweaty and swords immortality and ... and ... yeah.

And I understand the Duncan love, really I do, and I'm the first to admit he's pretty, but my heart belongs to Joe.
