That last line made me jump for joy, Mindy. How brilliant. I really don't know what to say. Don't feel sorry that you didn't go to the visitation. You've remembered him and I don't think you will forget him. That's what's important. Hope that you get warm soon.
The weather is warming up to the point where we are supposed to get a buttload of rain in the next 24 hours or so...and then the temperature drops right back down. craziness!
Darling, you only do what you can do. Don't beat yourself up over it. But do write the family a note, maybe mentioning something you'll always remember about Colton. When Walter died, I was over-whelmed with condolence notes - about 200, I estimate - and they were a great consolation to me. I answered every one, and doing that felt good. So...write. FanSee
I've sent them a card and made a donation in his name to the Children's Miracle Network (family request) but it still doesn't feel like enough. I hate feeling this helpless!
So take the time and hand-write a note telling the family why you'll remember Colton. You might start like this, "I'm sorry I was unable to make the visitation (don't explain why), but I wanted you to know that...." blah, blah, blah. You'll feel better. FanSee the bossy.
Oh i did! I enclosed it in the card that i sent. And i've talked to the mom a couple of times :P
I'm going to go through a bunch of pictures i have from when the kids were...well...kids and make copies for her. About 10 years ago, their house was demolished by a fire and i don't know what she was able to save.
