in my composition class, my teacher will not stop giving us articles to write about that complain about the american educational system. nothing's perfect, but at least i did't have to walk seven miles to get to school as a child. i don't know, i at least hope those kids don't have to put up with the kind of crime that happens in tight-knit urban areas.

value, whether it be things or education, is relative. when someone doesn't know anything besides the system in the US it's easy to pick out the shortcomings. but, damn. in the global scheme, how lucky are we to be able to go to college? and have it paid for for four years? and my art-student peers wonder why i try so hard to get good grades in my non-major classes.

Children not interested in learning is understandable in a society filled with Soccer Camp, McDonlald's and Xbox, even if it is deplorable. Worse--College students not interested in education because they don't need it to land a good job--that is inexcusable.

And in your composition class, blame Americans, not American's schools. Our education system hands families everything on a silver platter, and they throw it away with disgust.
