remembrances and reunions

well, i'm back from the trip to yakima. the drive up was nice, both legs of it were full of great conversation. the funeral was strange, it was a regular mass, but at communion, only like 5 members of the family went up besides me. that's 5 out of about 30, no other of my dad's siblings raised their kids catholic. there also was almost no crying at ( Read more... )

I think the Communion-skipping is a pretty commonplace thing. I've seen it a lot, I'd guess a lot of people who were raised RC are either disenchanted with it, or are hung up on the idea that you have to attend regularly/give confession before you can take the Eucharist.

The visiting sounds nice though, I'm glad you got to see your relatives... and good luck w/ the pup!

eh, i ignore that particular hang-up. i'm confirmed, so i have no qualms about having communion whenever. i think the only time i EVER went to confession was during my "first reconcilliation" thinger. haha. it's not as though god wouldn't know what i have done and whether or not i am sorry for it....

it was nice to see the cousins! didn't get the dog though, i couldn't find anyone to go with me and so someone else adopted her. A 9-MONTH COCKAPOO! NO FAIR! *wants*
