Ohhh, you have to tell me about the book once you are finished. I read that Ford changed a few things, so I'm curious, whether it was for the better or worse. And IMDB tells me that Isherwood's RL partner had a cameo in the film but I sadly can't remember the scene.
It played for like *one* week in our local fleapit when it was out here several months back and I managed to miss it, much to my annoyance. Shame, because I always think Colin Firth seems really nice and I *love* Julianne Moore and try and see anything she has a decent part in. Plus, I was very curious to see what Tom Ford's first film was like, being something of a fan of his general aesthetic vision from his days at YSL/Gucci even if the gentleman himself comes across as ultra shallow and hard to warm to. His 'Private Blend' perfume range is utterly spectacular, though. Anyway, rest assured as soon as this is out on DVD (next month here in the UK), we will talk!
Man, I really don't get why the movie was only released in April over here. These differences in national releases make no sense to me.
I'm looking forward to talk about the movie with you very much. I was very impressed by Ford and wondered after the movie, if there were similarities in the work of a director and of a fashion designer, because it's hard to believe that this is his debut as a director (and writer). I'm afraid that this is one of those movies that were made for cinema though, because of its emphasis on aesthetics and style. So perhaps it might not be as impressive on DVD. But I hope you check it out!
