To be honest, that's why I left school. I found myself not caring, not enjoying the subjects, and not having the time or energy for the homework. I realized I wasn't just wasting money, but I was wasting my life in spending so much time doing things I didn't enjoy and didn't like studying. I was uninspired, unmotivated, and generally directionless. Now I'm working on fixing the latter and hoping that'll fix the former.
I wouldn't be quick to give up, but maybe you need a semester off. Just to work and not worry about school. Nothing got me interested in going back to school more than stopping and working for two years. Now I really want to go back... If only I had the means to do so.
From what you're saying, though, it seems as if you are less content with life outside of college, and that you'd like to go back. Are you really sure that upon reentering school (if at all possible) you'd enjoy it even more than before?
Is it the sort of "you don't know what you had until it's gone scenario?"
In that case, my advice to Saku would be more like, try some new things where you are to make things more fun and interesting. Tough it out. Although it's definitely difficult to find direction in school - my personal experience was that I just found any old major that I found interesting but I wasn't passionate about, and looked toward what was going on AFTER college... and in the meantime I found a kickin' MFA to strive toward. So if you're not into it now, give it more time.
You're right, I'm not happy with myself for not finishing school. However, taking a break from it made me appreciate it much more. Unfortunately for me, though, my chances to be funded by my parents ran out as my father retired last summer. If I want to go back, I have to do so on my own, and if I want to continue, I'm going to work hard enough to get a scholarship.
I'm not saying she should give up, but a break might be a good idea. When all you do is school, you forget the reason you're there. When you work and have to pay your own bills (rent, power, phone, internet, gas, insurance, etcetera), you're reminded as to why a degree is a good thing. You can get the job you want and you can make more money at it. It's definitely not a cure-all or the best option out there, but sometimes it's the only thing that'll snap you out of the lull that is nonstop schoolwork.
Oooh, I did that exact thing with a quiz last spring. It sucks, but don't drop school. I think it may be a spring thing. Just hang in there and summer will be a good long break. There's nothing like that to remind you why you're here.
I pay for internet at home but I haven't actually used it in about... three months? But sharing one computer between three people is pretty hard, so I just go to a cyber cafe. But uh, I hope they still let you in that class! :D

Though I agree with you; I took a year off school and did an internship instead. It gave me incentive to return.

Keep going, because if you give up now, what else is there for you?
