i remember almost falling asleep in my figure drawing classes several times, the professor refused to believe it was because i was tired, it had to be i was depressed and needed counciling or something. counciling, no. coffee, yes.
Hi! I saw you added me to your list. Nice to meet you!
Wow, what kind of professor assumes something like that? Usually when I'm in school, I always would like to think the professors/instructors to be really unbiased, but my past experiences with my school's art department has proved it wrong.
It's a little difficult for me to fall asleep in class like... umm, painting, or figure drawing, or something-- because I'm distracted with eyes and hands... but compared to something like a slide lecture or some instructor blabbing away in front of a chalkboard, I fall asleep pretty easily when I'm tired. It's not even that it's boring.
nice to meet/read you as well, hope you don't mind the add. found you on a friend of a friend of a friend's list type deal.
the professor pulled me out of class a few times to talk and it was like he was trying to get me on zoloft or something. very creepy, fortunately the next semester he was on sabbatical and i didn't have him again. this was 10 years ago now (damn i feel old saying that) and just the tip of the iceberg about this schools crappy art department.
they'd always dim the lights in our class except for a couple of spot lights on the model. i never fell asleep but my eyes were barely open because i was drowsy or i squinted to get a better handle on shadows.
The professor PULLED you out of class? Just for that? Wow. He was SO sure that you had problems... what a strange guy.
10 years ago? Well, let's hope it doesn't happen anymore to more students... except maybe it probably still does in another form that I'm aware of. That sounded like a bad experience in your art department.
Dim lights after a while really hurt my eyes... especially if it's not like, a day time setting... if they close all the windows with blinds or drapes, and then dim the lights... it's really uncomfortable and hard to work. But I mean, I see why they'd do it for the lighting effect... still, I think they could have just flashed a huge flash light on the model instead or something.
Well, it sucked last year, but this year it isn't too bad.
I don't particularily like my TA, though. She's kind of... uh, I don't know-- she doesn't seem to like anyone really. Way better than the one I got last year who didn't even let me into 3D foundation which is why I'm in the class now.
Yeeeah, but mine will only last a month. Full Sail has an accelerated education program, so my classes only last one or two months, depending on the course. We go to school at least six days a week, eight (or more) hours a day, on 24-hour schedules. The school never closes. =)
Hey, you're taking lit1 too! I hated the last essay mostly because I put it off too long, stayed up late and got only a 2-hour nap before class(I usually never stay up late for a paper). But then, my sleep schedule seems to have become extremely flexible lately...
Yup, that I am. The last essay was okay, but the text itself was annoying. I mean, it was like looking at a pair of painties with tuxedo frills on it, if you understand my meaning...
Usually since that class is so early, I have a hard time trying to get to bed early for some reason-- I end up taking a nap prior to it and then having to need to take another nap after it. Ugh. Why do they put classes at 8AM in the morning anyway?

Do you ever suffer from PMS or anything? I hardly have it happen anymore since I turned 19-20 around that age, but I had one that was really painful.
