Yay, the first (that I'm watching)! This is a great kick-start to the vid binge; I have no idea what's going on, but it was great all the same, and I love your cutting in this. My favourite part is the timing of the fall at 1:04, ending with that beautifully timed entry into the pool. *sigh* Great job!
I second that yay! I can't wait for all the new vids to be posted, and to read con reports. It really makes me want to go next year (and hopefully, I will be going
( ... )
Oh so pretty. What with reviewing sol_se's vid for the_reel and now watching your gem I'm getting drawn back into the Alias fandom after not really giving it a second thought for ages.
I love this, it's so much fun and the song is a great fit for Syd. All the tick tock reminds me of defusing bombs etc.
I like the way there's the narrative of the evolving family dynamic with Syd's pregnancy in amongst all the hot Syd action footage. It gives a twist I haven't seen in other Alias vids.
It's an awesome vid to one of my favourite female tv characters I hope you get the recognition you deserve for it.
Aww, thank you so much! As I said to Nicky, 'Mainstream' was such an influence for me on this one, because I was just so impressed with your editing, and I wanted to try something where the cutting was the driving force, so it really means a lot to me that you enjoyed it!
I'm also very happy that you like the entwined narrative, because it really mattered to make it more than a 'Sydney kicks ass' vid, which is why I included the relationship with her parents, the pregnancy, the pilling up of the blocks with her daughter doing the same thing and etc.
Alias is such a great fandom, I need to do a marathon before school starts back, or something. That and Doctor Who, BSG and Farscape, lol.
I'm so flattered that you would find inspiration in "Mainstream". :D Of my own vids it's still one of the ones I really love. Although sometimes I like effects in vids I'm in awe at what can be achieved with just cutting alone, there's some amazing vidders out there that can pull it off every time.
It's definitely more than a kick-ass vid and I'm excited at the possibility of more Alias or BSG vids from you at some point.
I saw! I was sort of bummed for you that the poster didn't give more detailed impressions, but I get from the post that did enjoy the vid (I mean, who wouldn't? That vid is insane), they just weren't in the best mood for it.
And yes, thank you for calming my nerves then! I realize now that in my anxiety I might have been a bit bitchy, so if I was, I'm very sorry for that! :(
Ha! You weren't bitchy! But if you had been, I would have totally understood.
Yeah, I was kinda bummed about the reaction too, but hey "good timing" and "mood fits the song" is I guess better than "utter shiite that had everyone feeling sorry for the vidder." :)
I think it was pretty clear, as I said that it was a case of 'my head was just not into it', because LDG is such a smart vid, I would think if you're not all that focused, you might get that it's a very good vid, but not grasp the extent of it. It makes you think and at the same time, it kinda jolts your brain...I don't know how to say it, and I'm terribly tired, so I'm sorry if it comes out wrong.
I know that the first time I watched it, it finished and I was staring at the screen all 'Oh my god, WHAT? For real? *watches again*' and it was like that a few times in a row. It's a great vid that only keeps getting better and better every time you watch it.
wow *love*. I miss Alias now and want to watch episodes. What a great entertaning vid ! The song is great and is good for Sydney. I love your cutting. I love the slow intro, and then the use of all the locations intercut with shots of sydney, great way to set the mood. I loved the use of this scene around 0:30 because I loved it in the original episode and it fits right in then (cool explosiona t 0:32). I love the jump at 1:04, the shot of sydney on "standing in one place", the other jump at 1:37, the fight sequence around 1:50 so well cut with the music *love*, and the ending and the parallel with Isabel. I think my favourite sequence is between 1:00 and 1:30. Really, I don't know what to say except I loved it a LOT and it's standing in this repository of mine where vids I like to watch often are. :)
LOL, you don't have to hide. It's basically a vidshow at Vividcon, but it's like a party so it's all dance songs, and people dance around and have drinks while watching the vids. It's also a chance to let loose and not be so serious for once about the song choice. Being that I don't vid popular songs, normally, I probably would never have vidded this song in another context, which tells me what? That this ended up being a good vid and that I should broaden up my song choice horizon.
LOL Yeah, maybe. My favorite video as of now is, I think, DualBunny's God is a DJ, and it's vid to asong I would never in a million years thought about for a vid... I think I shouold think outside the box more as well lol
And thanks for explaining CVivid to me :) I feel so much like an outsider because I'm lost with everything. I didn't even understand half of this person's review on the panels... O_O
