The Force does strange things. Really it does. Even Jedi of the old Republic can't figure out everything. One moment, he is sensing the demise of a Jedi, a friend, a man of great potential, and the next moment, he is standing on the inside of a door, looking out over a cantina. Well, not exactly a cantina, a place like he has never seen before. He ( Read more... )

She looks up from her tea.

She blinks.

She stares. "...Master Jinn?"

Qui-Gon walks over, bowing to Padme. "Good afternoon, Senator Amidala. It has been a long time since we have had a chance to speak." He smiles, a bit wryly. "I do apologise that my untimely death did not allow me to finish my mission to protect you, however, I beleieve that good did in fact come from it."

Dazedly, "I hope some did. Please, would you like a seat."

"I thank you, Senator." He takes a seat across from her in the booth, and looks around. "What place is this where we are?"

Anakin senses him enter before he sees him. Quickly he walks to him, posture deferential. "Master Qui-Gon?"

He does not even know where to begin. He cannot explain anything that occured over the years that Qui-Gon has been gone, not in words, anyway. So he does the only thing he can. He offers a tentative mental line to him.

Anything Qui-Gon wants to know, he can find. Anakin's mind is open to him.

He's not interested in memories at the moment, not interested in the past. He actually, would really like to know where he is and why the man whom he just felt die is now standing corporeally in front of him. "Anakin. It is surprising to see you again, so soon after recent events." He takes a look around. "What is this place?"

"Milliways, sir. It's a bar. Many people find their way here, both before and after death."

Anakin assumes 'recent events' means the Battle of Naboo. "How did you recognize me, sir?"

"Well, I did discern that it was some sort of cantina, however, I was more wondering what -sort- of cantina." He peers around the room. "So, you are saying this is some sort of mystical place where various sorts of people come? Very interesting." He turns his attention back to the Jedi in front of him. "I was more meaning your death, Anakin." His tone is calm, gentle. "Your death on that space station."

Obi-Wan feels his heart skip a beat at the sight. He doesn't dare intrude on his Master's reunions with Padmé and Ani, partly because his mun was too tired, and too recovering-sick still, to get on AIM and coordinate with their muns and partly because of reasoning that each deserves not to have this moment interrupted.

When they've both moved on, though, he makes his way over to Qui-Gon, recognizing the other as a fellow returnee. The first words out of his mouth are "Hello, Master. I'm sorry."

And Qui-Gon's mun just returns from having nasty computer issueses....

Turning, the man smiles at his former apprentice. "You are sorry to see me, Obi-Wan? I wonder why this is? Do you think that I am going to chastize you for something?"

"You misunderstand, Master. I'm not sorry to see you, not at all. I'm only sorry for having failed you."

"How do you think you failed me, my friend?" Qui-Gon's face is impassive, but a smile is playing at the corners of his mouth. I am not seeing failure, simply choices which were made. You did not make Anakin's choices for him."
