The Force does strange things. Really it does. Even Jedi of the old Republic can't figure out everything. One moment, he is sensing the demise of a Jedi, a friend, a man of great potential, and the next moment, he is standing on the inside of a door, looking out over a cantina. Well, not exactly a cantina, a place like he has never seen before. He ( Read more... )

Anakin senses him enter before he sees him. Quickly he walks to him, posture deferential. "Master Qui-Gon?"

He does not even know where to begin. He cannot explain anything that occured over the years that Qui-Gon has been gone, not in words, anyway. So he does the only thing he can. He offers a tentative mental line to him.

Anything Qui-Gon wants to know, he can find. Anakin's mind is open to him.

He's not interested in memories at the moment, not interested in the past. He actually, would really like to know where he is and why the man whom he just felt die is now standing corporeally in front of him. "Anakin. It is surprising to see you again, so soon after recent events." He takes a look around. "What is this place?"

"Milliways, sir. It's a bar. Many people find their way here, both before and after death."

Anakin assumes 'recent events' means the Battle of Naboo. "How did you recognize me, sir?"

"Well, I did discern that it was some sort of cantina, however, I was more wondering what -sort- of cantina." He peers around the room. "So, you are saying this is some sort of mystical place where various sorts of people come? Very interesting." He turns his attention back to the Jedi in front of him. "I was more meaning your death, Anakin." His tone is calm, gentle. "Your death on that space station."

One of Val's phrases comes to him: Oh, frell. His face falls, and pulls a little into himself, pain in his eyes.

"I...," he starts, and then stops again. Qui-Gon only knows half of it. "I've been here quite some time, sir," he manages to get out at last.

He offers a mental link again, much more insistently this time. Qui-Gon needs to see what Anakin has done while in Milliways.

And this time, Qui-Gon takes the link, calmly. For a moment, a long moment, he stands there, imapssive. "Very interesting. It would seem, Master Skywalker, that you have made quite a name for yourself in this bar. Congratulations." There's a gentle smile on his face. "I will be very interested in meeting some of these people in your memories."

Anakin blinks at him. "'Master'? I- that's not a title I use, sir."

"It is a title you deserve, whether you use it or not. If I am not mistaken in my assessment, there are many in this place who look up to you, who take guidance from you. This is the vocation of a Jedi master. I understand your reticence from using the term, however, it is one deserved." A small smile. "I always believed in you, Ani."

Anakin smiles. This is an honor he never expected, and never thought he would be worthy of. "Thank you, Qui-Gon."

A smile. "You are welcome, Anakin." He smiles, a wrmly curious smile. "It seems to be a very good place here, with many fascinating people."

"It is. There are a few of the Dark, but far, far more are not. You shall be welcome here."

Anakin drops his attempt at reserve, then, and embraces Qui-Gon. "We lost you. Obi-Wan missed you so much, and so did I."

He chuckles, embracing Anaking back warmly. "I did not want to go, you know, Ani. Sometimes you just cannot argue with the business end of a lightsabre." He pauses, another chuckle. "But I am here now, so you do not need to miss me any longer."

Anakin starts to laugh at that, and then stops suddenly. Oh look, a change of subject. "Obi-Wan will not either. He will be glad to see you."

A smile. "I will be quite pleased to see him as well. We might even start the Jedi Council up again in this place, perhaps." A beat. "Your son is here too, I saw?"

"Yes, Luke is here. Leia also visits, but she is not quite as intrested in Jedi matters as Luke is." That is putting it very, very delicately.

"Ah. She has other things which interest her." He pauses for a moment. "Understandable. What have your children been doing since the demise of the Emperor?" He pauses. "I seem to have arrived here directly after that."
