It's just one thing after another. First there had been the earthquake, or whatever that had been, and then hours of helping the waitrats clean up the mess and debris from the kitchens. She, Ivanhoe and Holly had gone to check on the state of the cellars, but had found half of the cellars just... not there any more. Where there had been doors, ( Read more... )

Urquhart is coming from the forest, the dog walking close to his heels. The red skies are scary, even to Franz.

"Good, erm, morning?" Urquhart says to Rae.

She pulls her gaze away from the branches above her, and offers a slight, unsure smile to her friend. "It's morning at least. Don't know about 'good.'"

"At least it means we get breakfast," Urquhart says. "I've got a new recipe frying eggs."

Urquhart is the kind of person who will still make a solid breakfast if the end of the world is announced for mid-afternoon. What else can you do?

"Oh?" she smiles slightly, curious. "I should get you a hat. They say that the hundred folds in a chef's toque represents the number of ways a chef knows how to cook an egg."

She had once bought one for Mel as a joke. ^_^

Charlie's been outside a lot. Watching the sky. Thinking. Pondering. He spots Rae.

"Not good, it is? Any of it?"

"I can't see how it would be," she answers faintly, turning her gaze from the branches above her. "Any good, I mean."

"I've seen this before. The red sky. It was nearly the end of everything. So...I'm wondering..." He doesn't seem anxious. Just curious.

Rae looks faintly ill at the phrase 'end of everything.' She can't help it. On top of everything else, apparently the bar just felt the need to heap more doom, gloom and despair onto its patrons.

Kanaya's been on edge lately, since things have been happening in the Bar, something big is coming, and she can feel it on a visceral level of sorts.

So this morning, artificial feeling or not, she's out in the odd sunlight, looking around. She hasn't noticed the woman almost completely comprised of sunlight just yet, but she will, eventually, after she stops looking wistfully towards the red sky.

The red light, the unnaturalness of it, is making Rae feel sick. It's wrong, and the wrongness is affecting even the light of the little sunlet that orbits the bar. It leaves her with a headache and a twisting feeling in her stomach that isn't just because she hasn't had breakfast yet. With a grimace, she forces herself to stop looking up at it, rubbing her eyes.

The troll stops looking too, after a while, and it's then that she spots the human beneath the tree. She blinks once, twice, and makes her way over cautiously.

Rae hears the approaching troll before she sees her. Expecting someone she knew, she turns with a slight attempt at a smile... but pauses. She has no idea what kind of Other this might be. It looks like it might be friendly, though so do some of the nastiest kinds of demon.

Though perhaps politeness is a way to start, in any case.

"Hello," she greets.
