It's just one thing after another. First there had been the earthquake, or whatever that had been, and then hours of helping the waitrats clean up the mess and debris from the kitchens. She, Ivanhoe and Holly had gone to check on the state of the cellars, but had found half of the cellars just... not there any more. Where there had been doors, ( Read more... )

Urquhart is coming from the forest, the dog walking close to his heels. The red skies are scary, even to Franz.

"Good, erm, morning?" Urquhart says to Rae.

She pulls her gaze away from the branches above her, and offers a slight, unsure smile to her friend. "It's morning at least. Don't know about 'good.'"

"At least it means we get breakfast," Urquhart says. "I've got a new recipe frying eggs."

Urquhart is the kind of person who will still make a solid breakfast if the end of the world is announced for mid-afternoon. What else can you do?

"Oh?" she smiles slightly, curious. "I should get you a hat. They say that the hundred folds in a chef's toque represents the number of ways a chef knows how to cook an egg."

She had once bought one for Mel as a joke. ^_^

"I'm sure I'd look very silly in a hat," Urquhart grins. "Well, how about we discuss the potential doom and gloom over breakfast?"

Rae and her mun are of the opinion that he would look fantastic in a hat. ^_^

"Is it something one really would want to discuss over a morning meal?" She's not too sure.

"Actually, it's better to appreciate the morning meal properly, and discuss the end of the world later, over the remaining coffee," Urquhart concedes.

That will put the apocalypse in its place!

"Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, they say," she says, looking unsure. She hadn't heard anyone say something as final as 'end of the world' out loud, until now.

"We can talk over tea and coffee, after breakfast, yeah."

"Let's go in and make it, then?" Urquhart says, equably. "Breakfast, Franz?"

The dog wags his tail.

Rae scritches behind Franz' ears, briefly, before turning to walk with them back to the bar.

"So, how have you been?" says the queen of ignoring upsetting subjects, conversationally.

"In no way unusual," Urquhart says. "I cooked some interesting meals and read some interesting books. There's been a little drought in interesting people to flirt with, but I'm sure that won't last."

Moist is somewhere about in his world, supposed. So is Saffron. He hasn't seen Atton in a while, and the Fool seems always very busy. The lovely little vampire, or Jordan, or Tanya, have apparently disappeared, perhaps because of the wintry weather. But bad food, or no books, would actually be even worse than not getting laid for a bit.

"Milliways is usually pretty reliable when it comes to bringing in interesting people," she replies, adding, "Not that Milliways has been very reliable at anything, of late."

"Perhaps the doom stuff has superseded her efforts to bring interesting people for me to flirt with," Urquhart says. "I guess I like the doom stuff even less now."

"Doom is kind of the ultimate cockblock," she says with a dryly amused snort.

"I think we need to get rid of that doom, then," Urquhart says. "This can't go on."

"But how?" she says, overlooking the fact that their conversation has gone back to doom. Before breakfast, even!
