First Entrance

The door opens, admitting a tall guy in a red, white and blue costume that may or may not look like he was mugged by an American flag. The shield he's carrying on his left arm, decorated in the same motif, doesn't help either. He stops, confusions flickering across the part of his face not obscured by a hooded mask, which mainly consists of his jaw ( Read more... )

William's glad to be back in his normal clothes and has to look twice to make sure it's not Adrian at the door,

"Sir, it's Milliways."

Steve peers down at the kid from his now lofty height.

"Milliways? No, no. This is Detroit."

Or it was a minute ago.

"Um, no, sir, it ain't. I can explain if you'd like. The first drink's on the house,"

He tips his hat because if this man is who Adrian was dressed as then he's pretty important.

"... Why isn't it Detroit?" That seems the safest thing to say, or ask, at this point, because to do otherwise would risk attracting attention to himself (not that the outfit helps), and a drink is starting to sound good.

"First drink, huh."

...So Halloween ended yesterday and Tyler's still going through his bottomless pumpkin bucket of loot up on one of the rafters when the familiar 'mugged by a flag' look comes into the peripherial vision. Turning and still thinking one of his friends was stuck in their enforced getup from yesterday, he starts to to turn and greet the man.

Which is when the confusion sets in because that is not Adrian's face or body language, so the little boy's mouth goes shut with an "Awrp?"

Oh dear. He's learned to expect a slightly different reaction from children; either solemn faces or excited ones coming up to congratulate him for hitting their country's terrible foe. So, he's not quite sure what to do with Tyler.

"Everything okay?"

"...err."

Okay, aside from the wish that his brain had picked up on this guy NOT being Adrian a few minutes earlier....

"Yeah...just don't see many folk wearing the flag. ...New to Milliways?"

"Oh. It's for the war cause." His smile is a little lopsided, a mixture of embarrassment and something close to pride. Because Steve is helping.

"Seems like it. Odd place for a club, though."

"Bar get you, too?" Dean shoots the -- is he new? -- guy a sympathetic look from his position at a corner table.

He's got a half-full glass of beer tilted toward his mouth, maybe a half or so inch away from where it ought to be if he's actually going to drink it.

"Who's Bar?" It's the first thing that pops into his head, considering that is a strange name for a person.

Until he realizes Dean means the bar. "I'm not sure what you mean?"

"Yup. You've got the whole 'newbie' thing radiating like nobody's business."

Dean's grin is a little crooked.

"And I'm not just talkin' about the getup. You want a beer?"

It might help.

"Oh." He's smart enough to parse out what Dean is saying, even if the slang is a little iffy. Normally he doesn't do a lot of drinking, but.

It's being a day. "Sounds good."

"OMG!"

Yes, Molly does actually manage to say an acronym. It's her secondary mutation.

"HI CAPTAIN AMERICA!"

Blink. Blink. Blink.

He's in a strange place. With stranger people.

And someone recognized him.

A little girl - she must have seen one of the tour performances.

"Well, hello."

:D :D :D :D

BIG STARRY EYES.

"HI I'M MO - I MEAN PRINCESS POWERFUL I'M A SUPERHERO TOO."

Her clothes - skinny blue jeans, a pink t-shirt over a long-sleeved white top, sneakers and obligatory pink bunnyhat - may heavily suggest that she is not exactly from Steve's current era, alas.

She will eventually stop with the all-caps, though. Just ... not right now.

There's another round of blinking. She's very loud, and very -- impressionable, apparently.

And wearing strange clothing. Where is her dress, and proper shoes?

But he'll play along. Kids are pretty swell.

"A hero? Really?"

Dixie has a certain attraction to heroic types, but those tights are what draw her attention - and she assumes he's a stage performer, not a superhero.

"Who does your costumes?" she wonders.

It's not that far from the truth right now. Steve may physically be a super soldier, but he's not anywhere near the front lines, and hasn't allowed himself to hope for anything more than entertaining.

"I believe the senator's wife had it done."

She raises an eyebrow. "I've heard of having connections in high places, but you've got to be putting me on." Dixie's from the stage; she knows.

"No, ma'am. I'm not certain, but that was the impression they gave. It was his idea for ... all of this." He gestures with his free hand up and down his torso, obviously indicating the get-up.
