Hey hey hey it's just an ordinary day...

Ianto is humming as he prepares the coffee pots and arranges the cocktails shakers. His sense of impending doom isn't tingling, for once. (He doesn't trust it at all.)

Silas is very quiet, still pushing up his sleeves around his elbows as he sits at the bar. "Coffee, please?" he asks, with a mild French accent coloring his words as he glances with pale violet eyes at the board.

Oh, son.

"What kind?" says Ianto, his own Welsh accent rounding out the vowels into more pleasing shapes. "I've got dark roast, mild, breakfast blend..."

"Dark, please," the boy answers with a light smile at Ianto. "As dark as you've got. With milk."

He does love the smell of coffee percolating, though it fails to make him look any less pale or tired.

Dark it is, and he tops it off with milk.

"This should wake you up," he says as he sets the cup on the bar. "I'm Ianto."

"What's a Black Velvet?"

Andrew's looking up at the Specials board with some interest.

(The bartender looks a little familiar.)

"It's champagne and beer," says Ianto. "I know it sounds vile but it's actually not bad, if the beer is high enough quality."

He pauses, squints a little, says, "It's Andrew, right?"

He makes a faintly weirded-out (but also faintly intrigued) face at the description. It smooths out to surprise when the other man says his name.

"-- Yeah. I know you, give me a second ..."

"It was a rather bad day for you," Ianto says. "I'm not surprised if you don't remember."

"Good evening.

"Could I have hot chocolate, please?

"Maybe with peppermint?"

It seems an appropriate choice for Christmas present wrapping.

"Sure. Would you like peppermint oil or a stick?"

lilium_evansiae September 26 2011, 00:44:55 UTC
"A stick, I think.

"It's nearly Christmas at home, you see."

"I'll see if I can dig one up."

Peppermint sticks are no something kept immediately on hand, like, sa, beer nuts or paradoxes. He manages to find one anyway, and hands it over with a mug of frothy hot cocoa.

An Elf lands on a barstool, laying his arms casually on the Bar's surface. (His feet, it must be said, still touch the ground.)

"What is coffee," he asks, once Ianto's attention is free, "and how might one like it?"

[OOC: Iii am only sort of instably here, so if that doesn't work feel free to ignore? Sorry *sheepish*]

OH HAVE YOU EVER COME TO THE RIGHT MAN.

"Coffee," says Ianto, "is a hot or cold drink made by filtering water through ground beans. It tastes very rich, though it can be bitter if it's not made properly, and most people like it with either cream or sugar, often both. You can put spices in it as well, though I think the more you fuss with it the less good it tastes."

He'll wait a little before he launches into the speech about it being the elixir of life.

At ground beans, Legolas sends him a suspicious glance to confirm he's not being led astray, before settling back into interest.

"It is a staple of your country?" he asks, curious; the Man speaks of it as Legolas's father might speak of wine.

"May people can't start their day without it."
