It's been a long day, but a good one. Early morning run finished just as the rain started, a big breakfast, school, club, work, a few rounds at the dojo, two monster attacks, an evening run and now, finally, Kaoru puts her key in the lock and, hand ruffling her short blue-black hair, she sighs and pushes open her front door

"Milliways can be a tricksy place, on occasion."

Diana's voice is mild, friendly, and coming from a woman who is approaching Kaoru from a nearby table.

"And it does tend to take newcomers by surprise. I am sorry."

"What's a milliways?" Kaoru frowns and pinches her cheeks, not really sure that she isn't maybe asleep in class. Although this is more the type of dream Momoko would have; Kaoru's dreams tended to involve more tackling.

"The name of a bar," Diana says.

Start small and introduce the true strangeness later.

Sometimes that even works.

"An interdimensional bar, if that makes any sense?"

"Hmmph. Sounds like something on a stupid tv show." Kaoru has no idea what an 'interdimensional bar' was, but she isn't going to admit it. She steps closer, ignoring her strong desire to try the door again. "So I'm dreaming of a bar. At least there could be a fight going on or something?"

"Let me guess," says the wry red-head behind the bar, cleaning up from Happy Hour. "Not where you expected to be?"

It's... not really hard to tell. Rae supposes she had much the same look on her face when she first found herself in Milliways.

"Since I expected to be home, no." Kaoru lifts a hand, dangling her key chain. "I just opened my front door and I was here."

"That's how it was for me, too," she grins, wry. "Walked up to my apartment, and poof - Bar at the End of the Universe instead of my living room."

"I'm Sunshine," Rae introduces herself, then shrugs with a nod to indicate the rest of the room. "And this is Milliways, the bar at the end of the universe."

"Matsubara Kaoru... Call me Kaoru." Kaoru nods, pocketing her keys as she walks to the Bar. "Is business so bad that you have to kidnap underage people to come drink?"

And now there's a young woman standing nearby. She seems to have dropped from the rafters above the door. She's dressed all in black, but looks comfortable and... smiley.

Very, very smiley.

She waves merrily at Kaoru. Hello, new person!

"Ahh!" Kaoru normally isn't easily spooked, but she is also normally in her living room at this time of night, wrestling her brothers for the extra training, and not in some weird undermansiontable bar. "Where the hell did you come from?!"

The girl points upward at the wide wooden rafters above them. And grins.

It's fun up there!

Kaoru's head lifts as she follows the girl's pointing. "What? The ceiling? Did you fall or something? Is there a hole?"

There's another younger boy, paused in entering through another door, one that opens out in a big green grassy yard who smiles and waves at her.

"Welcome to Milliways!"

"Yo. Thanks. I think." Kaoru waves back lamely, leaning a bit to look around him. "Your door goes outside!"

[tyler_marlocke]

"Thaaat's not my door. It's the door to the backyard." The boy grins, looking down at something that looks like a small black and gold dinosaur following in at his heels. And by small, we mean it's the size of a large housecat.

"I'm Tyler, is this your first time coming here?"

"Kaoru. And yeah, I just showed up. Thought I was going into my family's apartment. Door ended up being to here, instead." Kaoru turns back to the door she'd come through, jerking a thumb at it. "This one. I'm guessing it's broke," she jokes, watching the... dinosaur with curiosity.

"There a lot of those outside?"

Kaoru looks back. "What does that mean?"
