"You know 'Poisoning Pigeons in the Park'?" Knox grew up with Lehrer on TV, on That Was the Week That Was.

"There is that," says Artie with a faint smile. "So how about you? What do you do for a living?"

[gotham_knocking]

"Columnist with one of the newspapers in Gotham City. Sort of the local expert on super-heroes." Knox's smile is not so faint.

"So, you're from a world where they actually have those, eh?"

[gotham_knocking]

"About sixty in my last count. We've had a few for a while now, but they started springing up all over in the past five years." This fall will be five years since Batman showed. That will call for a big feature story.

[doyousmellfudge]

"Really. Any particular reason that you know of?"

[gotham_knocking]

"Well, the first hero was sort of above everyone and everything. A good and great man, but not someone you can emulate.

"But the one who started the trend going, he's just a guy in a bat-suit. He showed everyone how to do it." Including the people with powers.

[doyousmellfudge]

"A guy in a bat suit," echoes Artie. "Really."

He's not saying a damn word, thank you.

"Really. I know if sounds like something from a cartoon, but it's real. He's real. And he pretty much brought Gotham out of the depths, in terms of crime." With Knox there to report it.

"Well, good for him, then."

[gotham_knocking]

"Good for all of us. At least in Gotham.

"And probably good for the world, since I think the heroes are making a difference." Sometimes objectivity goes out the window.
