William's yawning over a mug of coffee near where she's sitting and tips his hat to her.

Bar gave him some paper since he really needs to write notes and figure out how one of the doctors here can help with Mark.

Nynaeve favors him with a return nod, giving herself a minute to determine whether or not she's met him before.

He doesn't look familiar, but it's been a fair span of time -- plus an entire apocalypse -- since her last visit here.

She hedges a little more by taking a quiet sip of her tea, then lowers her cup into the saucer with a tiny clink.

"Good morning."

"Morning, ma'am,"

They haven't met but he was raised to be polite.

"I don't think I've seen you here before."

She takes another small swallow of tea.

"Though that may mean I've been away rather a long time."

There's a tall, broad-shouldered man sitting at the bar already. As her tea appears, he looks over and gives her a very subtle examination.

By which we mean he openly ogles her.

Nynaeve scowls darkly into her tea.

She knows when she is being ogled.

Then she favors the ogler with a glare fierce enough to sear paint.

Max responds with an amused smile and an arch of his eyebrow that might, if one was generous, be construed as apologetic.

He didn't mean to offend, after all. (It was a poor strategy for making friends.)

"You might try using your words," Nynaeve snaps.

It's entirely possible she's more out of the habit of being a morning person than she ought to be.

(Or she's like this all the time. Either/or.)

Well, that isn't something you see every day.

"You all right, Miss?"

So asks the cowgirl seated at the bar today, sipping slowly at a glass of whiskey.

Miss?

Nynaeve's attention shifts to the cowgirl, fingers tightening around her cup of tea.

"I'm fine, thank you. Bar just caught me by surprise today, that's all."

Maybe 'Ma'am' would be better?

"She's good at that."

Kate smiles easily.

"Wasn't sure if you'd been here before."

"Oh, I've been coming here a fair few years now. Though lately it's been more challenging to find."

Not that she's been trying.

"And yourself? You don't seem like a newcomer to me."

"Likely you'll pull it all out if you keep doing that, lass," he warns, glancing up from the glass of rum in front of him.

"That's not bloody likely."

Nynaeve sniffs. Then scowls.

"Thank you for your concern."

Jack blinks at her insult, then grins, gold glinting from a tooth as he does.

"Got a temper there, don't you, luv?"

Her scowl deepens.

"You'll see less of it if you call me by name. Nynaeve. I am not your anything, least of all a 'love'."
