Happy Hour

[OOM: A Royal OccasionWhen Sameth enters the Bar from the back door, he looks more like a prince than he normally does. His surcoat is long and heavy, red and gold towers are crossed with silver keys on dark blue and he knows how to wear it, the surcoats of the Old Kingdom are made for cold weather and to be worn over mail. Enzo almost laughs. This one is too easy; 'memorable birthday' is very nearly an oxymoron in his world.

(Of course, not all memories are good... no, enough of that.)

"I christened a pirate ship."

Sam looks up, "Which birthday and what did you christen it?"

"My second-and I've only had two. The Ada's Revenge. My siblings and I did it together, and then we had the party on board. And just before my birthday, I sort of brought my dad back from the dead. Is that memorable enough?"

"From the Dead? Yes, it is. Tell me the full story and your drink's free,"

This boy's green so maybe the dead part isn't as bad, but Sam still grips his drink hard enough to make his knuckles go white.

"The knives were well received," Urquhart reports, approaching. "And is it your birthday? Happy Birthday!"

"Oh, I'm glad to hear that. Yes, at least here it is."

"I think I'll take the drink that's called 'Brick in the Wall'," Urquhart decides, "and will pay in full."

The drink is slightly complex so Sam takes his time putting together all the parts and shaking it,

"I think that means I'm eighteen."

It's the glowing specials board that catches Rosalie's attention. She comes up to the bar just to take a closer look.

Sam looks at her and blinks, she's dead, but sort of dead like the woman Alice,

"Can I help you?"

He ends up rather more formal than he intended, the surcoat brings the prince out in him.

"Oh," Rosalie says, blinking at him for a minute. She hesitates. "No, not really."

She eyes the board again, wanting to ask about it. It doesn't appear to be powered by anything.

"Its a quiet night, so I'm glad to help,"

He doesn't have much to do which is making him restless.

It's always interesting to see what themes people choose for Happy Hours around here. Especially since so many seem to choose them based on personal references.

However: Trowa is kind of boring sometimes.

Accordingly, even though he's glanced over the specials (and the bar at large, and the patrons by Bar herself, and Sameth), what he says when he arrives at the counter is, "Do you have coffee?"

Well, once Sameth looks at him, anyway. Trowa is content to wait, if things are busy or if Sameth is distracted.

Sameth's not terribly busy tonight so it doesn't take long and Trowa is rather distinctive,

"Yes, any preference on what kind?"

"Decaf."

Beyond that . . . Trowa grew up on soldiers' campfire coffee. He is really, really not a gourmet.

"Please," he adds, however, as a gesture of sociable good faith. It's not that Trowa doesn't understand manners and small talk; he just doesn't bother with them all that often.

That helps and Sameth gets a mug and pours from one of the many coffee carafes,

"Here you are,"

Its strange, he keeps feeling like maybe someone will comment on his surcoat, but perhaps it only means something to him.
