[OOM: Nothing says "Happy Independence Day" like a run-in with the Mad Mod]

Cy has a very big chocolate milkshake with a small American flag decorating it. You would think this would make him very glad. But while he loves both his country and milkshakes, his mind is elsewhere. As anyone can tell by how long it's taking him to drink his shake.

A half ton war fighter in a suit of massive power armor steps lightly towards the table, his helmet hanging from his waist. Curiosity pulls him forward.

The person in front of him doesn't seem to be in a celebratory mood, despite the cold dessert and dinky American flag.

"Most people celebrate with fireworks," the soldier states, indicating the shake with a nod. Personally, he's never sat back and purely enjoyed an explosion. He knows too much about what ordinance can do to the human body. At the first sound of a detonation, he reflexively begins thinking about what the tactical situation is.

Cy isn't so wrapped up in his thoughts that he doesn't take a look at the man in the powersuit. And thus has to think how utterly cool that suit is.

"We have fireworks at home tonight. We live on am island in the bay so we have a bird's eye view. I'm just not ready for that yet."

He takes the reply as an invitation. He summons up a chair that looks like it's designed to hold up an engine block and sits down.

There are many islands and many bays. What he wonders more about though, is what kind of home this augmented young man might have. Home can mean a lot of things, even when it always means the same thing. Most people would consider home to be where they were raised, or where their family was. But just as home meant many things, family could mean many more. Who he considered his family to be weren't related to him by blood. Anyone who looked at him and his team wouldn't guess to call them a family.

The soldier watches the cyborg. "Why wouldn't you be ready to face your home?"

"Because I got put in charge of the team three days ago. And today we almost messed up our first mission with me running the show. Weren't for Red Star, we would have.

"So I don't feel like celebrating just right now." He knows that sooner or later, he will have to face it. Just not yet.

"Not a fan of holidays either, huh?" Chandler asks casually from nearby.

"Not a fan of having stuff dropped in my lap. I usually like the Fourth. Big fireworks show outside the window, all the barbecue I can eat. Just not in the mood." It's downright unAmerican.

"I had stuff dropped in my lap once," Chandler says. "Got second-degree burns and had to go to the emergency room."

He may or may not be kidding.

"Ow. I didn't mean it literally, though." And it's not like you can burn Cy these days. "I just got made leader of the Titans for a while. I didn't ask for it, and I wish at least someone had talked to me first."
