There are many doors in Camelot, and Merlin is still learning which one is which.

So when he opens one and sees . . . this place, at first he thinks it's another dining room.

But once he steps inside and the door closes behind him, it feels ... different.

"Er," says Merlin and shifts from foot to foot uncomfortably.

"Hello," said an Iron age man sitting a table near the door. There is a harp sitting on the table along with a cup of ale and some food. A staff of rowan is leaned agains the table, and blue cloak is folded and placed near the harp. There is also a gold Penannular brooch resting on top of the cloak.

"Hello," says Merlin, taking all this in.

"Are you new here?" asked Tegid, "I've not seen you before."

Tegid grinned and indicated a chair.

Merlin hesitates, then sits. "I am, I think. I've only lived in the castle a few days, and I've never seen this room before. Of course, there's a lot of rooms I've never seen."

Finally someone who looks like they might be from home, Sameth, who's now dirtier after helping Teja in the forge walks over to Merlin,

"Hello. Did you come from the Old Kingdom?"

He's in a good quality but dirty linen shirt with good breeches and a knife at his belt, the Charter Mark on his forehead is just visible under his hair.

"The ... old kingdom? I'm from Camelot. It's rather new. Ish. I mean, Uther's been king for as long as I've been alive ..."

Sameth frowns at him,

"My father, King Touchstone the first is king. I've never heard of Camelot."

This place is just confusing.

"Well, I've never heard of King Touchstone, so we're even.

"I'm Merlin," he adds. "I'm a bit lost."

"Hullo," Tom says, passing by on his way to a table. "You have the look of someone who's new. Everything quite alright?"

"No, not all right at all," Merlin says bluntly. "I thought I was learning my way around and suddenly there's this . . . tavern!"

"Doors here tend to happen when you're least expecting them. This is Milliways, the restaurant at the end of the universe. It's a bit hard to take in at first. Oh, one moment."

Tom takes out his quill and ledger and jots something down.

"Sorry. I'm trying to get some notes in order."

"End of the universe," Merlin repeats softly. "Oh, dear. That's...oh, dear."
