There are some embarrassingly late presents waiting at the Bar today. For the three teenagers-or-younger, the accompanying notes are in distinctly child-like letters--Tavi would be a very poorly trained spy, indeed, if he couldn't forge his own handwriting. The rest are in a precisely formed script.
(
Presents: Bonzo, Enzo, Sameth, Seimei, Alanna, and Max, in order. )

Interesting... Glance at the back of the Bar. Right. Christmas. Holidays. Growing up without any real holidays will do a number on you, even if you've seen the decorations. They just don't trip off memories for him, except a few from early childhood.
He picks up the note with his name on it and the dagger, and looks them over.
Interesting... It's a plain dagger; he's never seen an actual dagger that he can remember, which makes him curious...and, truth be told, careful around the blade itself. The fact that the blade is furycrafted means both something and nothing: He knows the term, but not quite what it means as far as the nature of the dagger. Looks useful if I ever get into a fight. Thanks, Tavi. Mental pause. Now to think up a proper return gift...

"I'm glad you liked it. It seemed somewhat appropriate." He takes the boxes, eyes crinkled in wry amusement. He runs his hand almost absently over the lacquer. "Believe me when I say we'll appreciate the change of diet."
Especially the last ten years, things like that have been low on the priority list for the First Lord's family.
He eyes the brooch for a moment. "I'm glad the stonework turned out properly--we do it for our signet-daggers, but generally there's only the one line, no embedded parts."
