Epically late presents and New Year's

Jan 01, 2010 04:38

There are some embarrassingly late presents waiting at the Bar today. For the three teenagers-or-younger, the accompanying notes are in distinctly child-like letters--Tavi would be a very poorly trained spy, indeed, if he couldn't forge his own handwriting. The rest are in a precisely formed script.

For Bonzo, there is a plain dagger.
Bonzo,
I know I haven't been around much recently, but when I was last in the Bar I saw it was Wintersend. I don't remember if I mentioned Fade, our steadholt's tinker, but he's a very good metalcrafter--and I thought you might like a dagger. I hope you do.
Tavi

Enzo gets a simple red legionare's cloak.
Enzo,
Sorry I haven't been around the last few weeks--I really wanted to try that board again. Anyway, last I was in Bar I saw it was Wintersend, and I thought you might like this. Hope you do--and I hope I actually see you next time I stop by.
Tavi

There's a small furylamp waiting for Sameth, with a cloth to cover the light that won't go out whenever he doesn't want it showing--and unbeknownst to him, the little fire fury inside has a bit of a courage crafting on it. Just in case.
Sameth,
I'm really sorry I haven't managed to see you properly when I've been in Bar lately, but it hasn't been too often anyway. I saw it was Wintersend, though, and I know you like interesting constructions. Some holders are firecrafters, and I'm assured that this won't go out. I hope it's useful. See you soon, with any luck,
Tavi

There is a relatively simple brooch waiting for Seimei, with a yin-yang symbol of gemstones, somehow seamlessly joined, carved so it could be used as a seal.
Seimei,
Best wishes this Wintersend, my friend--may there be many more to come.
Tavi

There's also a dagger for Alanna--a little less plain, though, and there's a lovely purple gem with a lion carving in the hilt.
Alanna,
I know it isn't Raven Armoury, but it's good Aleran furycrafted steel. Hopefully that will make up for being made in the wrong place. Don't forget to tease Max with the story about Berthe some time. Best this Wintersend,
Tavi

Max gets a bottle of wine--the serious, ordinary Happy-Wintersend part of the present, with the note,
Max,
This is actually good wine for once--do try not to waste it. Isn't often you'll get it out on the Elinarch.
Tavi
There's a second part to it, though--partially far more facetious, and underneath that deadly serious. (Nothing can ever be simple with Tavi, after all.) The win is wrapped in rather nice red cloth--which, really, with a strategically placed clasp might do very well for a captain's cloak, not that there is one. Pinned inside one of the folds, though, is a paper folded into an envelope, with a simple pair of rings, and a few words written on the outside.
Just in case you ever need them. - T.

The origin of the presents is is sitting in a chair near the fire, legs stretched out and crossed at the ankles, frowning at the paper he's writing on. (He's making notes about the vampire attacks that he knows about.) He has a mug of mulled cider, which appears to have gotten cold. Someone's being a little absent-minded.

There are others he would have liked to give presents to--but with his timeline crossing over itself strangely, he doesn't dare, not yet.

Piled on a table nearby are some sweetmeats and cookies, with a small sign:
Happy Wintersend to all.
Food is free--help yourselves.
- G. T.

He's practically asking to be bothered.

abe no seimei, enzo matrix, bonzo madrid, tavi
