Jareth is lounging on one of the couches, sipping a glass of wine.

Ages ago, when he had been a mere Goblin Prince, he had always gotten excellent marks in lounging. His tutor had often praised him for his style and languor. He has only gotten better at it as time has passed. As long as he stays entertained, he stays young and strong; it's only ( Read more... )

Lissar is a white woman. Not albino; not with those golden eyes. Not with hair that breaks light like a prism. Not with the solid white of her skin; albinos have the tracery of blood running under theirs; hers is simply white. She's fairy-tale princess beautiful, even with her hair chopped to her shoulders.

The tailored white "leather" coat that covers her from shoulders down is magically cleaner than any white thing should be, a marked contrast to the streaks of black grease on her cheek bones and the cheerful red kerchief she's wearing. She also has on black gloves that disappear up into the sleeves of her coat, and sandals over purple toe socks.

Being Lissar means ignoring style entirely in favour of comfort.

Well, style is a relative thing.

Her look is certainly distinctive--and very different from anything they have in his kingdom. Not entirely unfamiliar though, he thinks, but cannot quite remember.

But she has his attention.

"Good evening," he says, glancing up.

"Good evening." she returns with a smile and a dip of her head that can't help but be regal. Lessons learned young stay with you forever. Her voice is low, for a woman, straddling that line between Alto two and Tenor one.

Ah, proper etiquette. Respect toward him earns respect in return, and he gives her a nod of greeting.

"A pleasantly warm evening, I've found. The afternoon was lovely, and there's no better way to start the transition into evening than by relaxing."

Jane is doing her best to peer at him over her boot, his pants looks quite uncomfortable, perhaps he's French.

They're perfectly comfortable.

He wouldn't be able to achieve such effortless lounging in uncomfortable pants.

He knows this from experience.

And he also knows when he's being watched.

"Good evening."

"Oh, good evening, sir."

Her smile is bright and quick since she was not trying to be rude.

"I hope everything is well?"

It's always good to start out politely, anyway. It is expected.

And lo, Coreen and her unfortunately dressed baby are sitting not far from the Goblin King, though she's not noticed.

Poor Evan and his red and white striped onesie!

Poor Evan, indeed.

And poor Coreen.

But it's more the baby that has his attention at the moment.

"He looks very small."

Coreen's brain has just imploded.

Give her a minute.

Okay. Now, she can think again. She and Hedwig are going to have a long talk about irony.

Her face is bright red. "Uh, he's brand new. Just a few days old..."

She and Hedwig can have a nice long talk, after poor Hedwig has recovered from her own encounter with Jareth.

"...well, he'll grow into it," he says. "I don't suppose you're looking to get rid of him, are you. He looks cared-for."

There is a woman looking very annoyed at a door. She was looking very much like she wanted to throttle it. She exhaled and stopped looking at it.

"Hello," she said taking up her own lounging stance, "Please tell me you aren't depressingly dull like most of the other people in here."

"I make no guarantees," he says with a faint smile, glancing up and giving her a polite nod. "But I come highly recommended, or so I'm told."

"Well, this may be promising," she said with a smile, "I think introductions are in order. I am Vala Mal Doran, I am not from Earth, and I seem to be STUCK here."

The word, "stuck" was directed at the bar at large. The smile never left her lips though.

"Jareth," he says, "King of the Goblins. From Earth, I suppose, but then we've all got to be from somewhere. A pleasure to meet you--not enough to do, while you're here? Bored already?"

And here's a god who can relate to the lounging, and the need to avoid boredom over the long centuries. Usually he finds ways around it. Pan stretched out on a couch nearby, goatskin skirt in place though it hid as much as Jareth's leggings. He idly scratched a spot behind one of his horns, and had his hooves draped over the far armrest.

"So many new arrivals here, such a treat really." The faun then commented.

"It seems to be a bit like a feast," he says, giving a polite nod of greeting. "Whatever you want, there for the taking. Certainly better than goblins."

He sips his wine. It's very good wine, he has found.

Pan gestured idly to a waitrat for some Atlantean before commenting, "Whatever or whoever, depending on how well you work it. And goblins is it? Not many around these days, or is it different in your lands?"

And he can be quite convincing at times.

"More than enough, where I'm from. Thankfully few in here. They..."

He shrugs lazily.

"It's hard having a conversation with creatures who are both painfully dim and having terrible short-term memories. There isn't conversation, there's just you talking and them staring blankly."
