For the moment that Freya's Door is open, a bedroom can be glimpsed beyond it, sheets rumpled from a night of sleep. Freya has only seen it the once and isn't particularly attached

-- how the hell that happened, all torn up like Doc Cullen said. Demon bunnies're nasty little fuckers, but Christ in a teacup.
At a table near the Front Door, Ben shifts in his seat and lifts his eyes from his dog-eared sketchbook, letting his attention wander around the crowded bar.
Bad attitude in a tiny, cute package stomping through. His blank face is perfect - and there is no weight to any of the thoughts. Mental monotone! Very, very fast mental monotone.
I wonder if the string really working for Theseus. Oh, what if there are more than two flavors of heterotic strings? What would that mean? Could sorcery be super-strings? God I want chili fries. I wonder if veggie chili fries would be just as good. I miss mom. I wonder if the demons could be tracked by their vibration frequency? I would be different than that dimension's people right? What would a mini-black hole do to a demon? I miss you dad.
These thoughts are flavored with Motzart's The Magic Flute as the blond teenage girl stares at the Window.
There's a woman sitting at a nearby booth. I wonder if the baby will look like him... I hope so. She has a pot of tea, a plate of.....something that smells strongly of garlic, and a little pamphlet she's looking over with a bright smile. It would be too early to tell at that ultrasound thing, I think. I can't even feel him yet. After taking another bite of her food, she puts her fork down and tugs at her robes. I wonder when I'll start showing. She seems botherable enough.
Well, I'll start showing when I start showing. No sense in worrying about it. There's another bite of the food before she looks up. Oh, she looks a little lonely. I never do like feeling lonely. Maybe she wants to sit down and have a tea. I know I would if I looked like that. I wonder if this is her first time here? Oh goodness, that always takes some explanation. "Hello," she calls. "Are you new here?"
A little boy enters the bar behind Freya and ducks around her legs, giggling. Aside from his constant and complete time sense (which is probably incomprehensible to Freya) and a faint, running count of something (seventy-nine-million-five-hundred-twenty-nine-thousand-eight-hundred, seventy-nine-million-five-hundred-twenty-nine-thousand-eight-hundred-one...), Barty's thoughts are mostly typical of a two-year-old.
Neat my red ball is here boy that lady is pretty I wonder where she's from maybe she likes long division too.

At 'demon bunnies', her face twists into something a little- startled? amused?- and rests one hand briefly on the chair opposite to him, for balance.

He looks up, smile tempered with concern.
"Y'all right, miss?"

"I'm fine," she adds, hastily. It's not convincing.

Val looks up just as the woman is holding her hand to her ear.
I wonder if she's okay?
The music in Val's head turns to the Spice Girls as she starts the mathematics to explore the possibility of more than two heterotic strings.
She smiles if the woman meets her eyes.
